"He will hopefully be back soon."

"Then prove it. Your words mean as little to me as mine to you. Now, act."

 

I head back through the gate into the city and head over to Eve.

"Eve, new commands, you don't need to kill Ruby anymore." I say.

"Isn't she trying to kill you, though?" Eve asks.

"I think she's come around. Don't worry." I say.

 

Your shuriken flash as her claw grabs you by the shoulder.
"Aj, you need to see something. You think I live to annoy, but you don't know what you haven't fought."

 

"What is it?" I ask.

 

You wonder why they haven't made a move. I'm going to pull you into a portal, and you are not going to move at all. Every breath, every step, every second could kill you."

 

I grab Eve by the arm.

"Let's go." I say.

 

You find yourself hiding above a huge group of draconians, weapons drawn and everyone standing in file.
"This is what they're hiding. You've been under seige for a while, but you wouldn't know thanks to me."

 

"Can we attack? Eve has a hyper blast." I whisper.

 

Two formations leap at the trio before you're whisked away by Ruby.
"No, you idiot! Those are the untrained ones, and they'd turn Eve to scrap!"

 

"I doubt it. She's more powerful than you think." I say.

 

"They're studying you. All of them have experimental semiparadoxical weapons."

 

"Then we should kill them with a hyper blast." I say.

 

"No, you idiot. Save it for a big fight! We do something once, and we never get away with it again, you know that!"

 

"Oh, right," I say, "Good thing Eve has a lot of moves."

 

"Point is, he's experimenting with your forces. Guardians have been captured and you have been studied. If you can't beat them, evolve; that's his philosophy."

 

"W-What? Guardians?" I ask, shocked.

 

"While you had a break in the Lost Kingdom, our enemy has been working. Don't be surprised; you brought that upon yourselves."

 

"Well...I just hope Eve is enough." I say.

 

"They're studying shadows too..."

 

"Impossible." I deny.
