Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Eve nervously raises her hand-cannon to Rineth.

"W-What is this thing!?" She says, scared.

 

Rineth stops moving.
"Ihra..."
"Eve, stop! He's not evil! He's my caretaker!" Ihra says frantically, moving in front of the hand cannon.
"I think she meant that I'm a rather sizeable dragon and that those aren't in her databanks."
Ihra pauses.
"...Now I'm confused." She says, gaze shifting between Eve and Rineth.

 

Eve just looks at Rineth fearfully, backing away.

 

"I don't bite. It's nice to meet you, Eve. I'm Ihra and her friends' mode of transportation. If you're with Aj, then you're probably with us." Rineth says, trying to come off less intimidating.

 

Helianthus returns to the labyrinth.

 

"Y-Yes, I'm with Aj. He s-sent me to protect Ihra and Artemis, b-but he's defending her now." Eve says nervously.

 

The draconians seem to be waiting for you.
"Find anything? We've exhausted the area."

"Don't be nervous. I don't bite, plus I'd rather you put that cannon away before you kill me and rile up Ihra."

 

"O-O-Ok..." Eve says, nervously changing her cannon back to her hand. Eve shakes on the spot, clearly still intimidated.

 

Ihra forms a telepathic link to you.
"Did you program Eve to be deathly scared of Rineth?"

Rineth puts his head down and stretches his wings, growling in discomfort as one of them gets close to the magma.

 

"No, but I'd assume it's a side effect of her update. Don't worry, anything tries to attack you and she'll probably get over her fear." I say.

 

"Okay. I'll try to ease the tension until then."

"Eve, was it?" Rineth asks. "I've never seen you with us before. Where is Aj pulling all this backup?"

 

"Not much, just a mining camp. If you guys find anymore, then that's good. I'm heading over to Brisingr for a bit to find some things there."

 

"Well, I was mainly in the realm of shadows until he called me for help. Ruby had turned on him, and presumably the rest of the group and was trying to kill him. He's only called me for help three total times." Eve says.

 

"As you wish. Good hunting, human."

"Ruby turned? That doesn't make sense. Can you show me what happened?"

 

Eve draws a large screen in front of her, her arms stretching outwards, before holding it up. The finding of, attacking, possession of Amber, and turning of Ruby on Aj, as well as the summoning of Eve is shown on the screen.

 

"I don't recognize that draconian... but it doesn't seem like Ruby's acting out of the norm."


Meanwhile, Amber is lying in her hospital bed, seeming to have died during her sleep.

 

"She tried to kill Aj!" Eve exclaims.


A doctor walks in and checks on Ambers vitals.

 

"I'm not saying she's in the right, I'm saying that this doesn't surprise me. I understand why you were called, now. Has Aj recovered since?"


She appears to just be a shell of a body now, her life force drained entirely and some scorch marks present among the melted blankets.

 

"Yes, he's fine now. Still, Ruby is dangerous. Who knows what she's planning to do to Ihra? Or the rest of the group?" Eve asks.


The doctor runs out of the room.

A while later, I enter the room.

"Oh no." I say, looking around for evidence of what could have happened.

 

"That's why I'm taking your word. Thank you for telling me, and I'm glad to see you're not terrified of me anymore."


On the ceiling, "10 TO GO" is written on the ceiling in blood.
