Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Then, I'll just have to use my backup plan." I say, focusing.

A short moment later, Ruby feels herself grabbed in a stranglehold from behind.

 

Ruby lets off a portion of the energy as a smaller psyblast behind her, not giving up on the stasis hold.
It's evident that she's almost done charging.

 

The stranglehold persists, and the knockback from the psyblast almost tears Ruby's head off as she's flipped and forced toward the ground.

 

She blinks out of the hold and releases the blast before turning around, furious.

You wake up on the other side of the portal, the hunted draconian's lance back in their body as they lay unconscious.

 

A strange looking girl stands behind Ruby, her right hand a robotic cannon that fires one of Ruby's psyblasts back at her.


I pick up the draconian and take them to the nearest elevator, teleporting both of us to the medical ward of the Shadow Palace.

 

Ruby absorbs the energy, clearly ready to retaliate.
"You have a lot of nerve, robot."

They're a bit heavy, their flesh and scales rotting slightly and in part falling off.

 

The robot's appearance changes, before she charges her cannon and fires an icy blast towards Ruby, the blast freezing the ground to solid ice as it travels.

I take them into the medical ward, where surgeons immediately see to her and take her into one of the surgery rooms, removing the lance, stitching up wounds and giving life.

 

Ruby just sidesteps it.

Removing the lance hurts and lets off a horrid pulse of life; the wound cannot be stitched, but the rest of her body stops falling apart.

 

Ruby sidesteps right into another blast, which freezes her solid.

The surgeons fill in the wound with the lacking components, before sending the draconian out to one of the rooms to rest.

 

The filling does nothing, it seems. Whatever is put in inexplicably disappears.

 

The surgeons wheel the draconian into one of the rooms despite this, letting her rest.


The robot kicks Ruby through the ice, shattering the ice and causing severe damage to Ruby. She then hits Ruby with another icy blast, and repeats the process.

 

The moment she's unfrozen, she retaliates by hitting the robot with as much energy as she can, blinking away.

It takes a while for her to feel for her lance.

 

The robot seems to absorb most of the energy, but still gets knocked back a bit. A visor drops over her eyes that searches for Ruby.

She finds her lance leaning next to her bed.

 

Ruby's gone.

She grabs it and carefully slides it back in her body before paradoxically sitting up.

 

A jetpack opens up out of the robots back, and she flies off back towards the group in the city.

"Feeling better?" I ask.

 

Ihra notices, still in the upper entryway.
"Huh? Another robot? Who are you?"

"In the loose sense of the word, yes."

 

"Eve," Eve says, "Another of your kind, Ruby, has turned against you. She has attempted to kill Aj."

"Sorry about the whole murder thing. I didn't know Ruby would turn like that." I say.

 

"Ruby? I thought Aj just went to help her!"

"You brought it upon yourself. Now, my turn. Who are you, and why do you look like another preserver?"

 

"He did. She used it as a trap, and attempted to kill Aj. I've been ordered to protect you and Artemis from her." Eve says.

"Aj, and I'm a Shadow." I say.

 

"That makes no sense. Why?"

"Thank you for changing your mind. Though, you realize Ruby will seek amends, right?"
