Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I wave back, even if it wasn't intended for me and proceed to follow Thirteen back.

 

Abigail only seems to notice you now, and looks a little shocked.

 

The rifle falls apart into a lump of light as the distortion tears the barrel off.
Ihra stops channeling the spell and rushes to Ruby.
"Killed the illusions?"
"Yep."

 

The light guardian pulls out a sword and slashes for Artemis, which I block with Shadow Katana as a swrodfight ensues.

 

Ihra pulls Artemis aside and puts a barrier between the pair and the combatants.
"Is there any way to help him?" Ihra whispers.

 

"I-I'm not sure." Artemis says, scared.

I manage to badly wound the light creature's left shoulder; leaving it to fight, but wounded.

 

"Where's Myria? She knew how to fight it..."

 

"I'm here." Myria says. She looks weaker than usual.

As the fight progresses, it becomes clear I'm losing. Eventually, after sustaining and dealing many wounds, the light creature kicks me to the ground, retrieving a light pistol from his cloak.

"No!" Artemis cries.

"Goodbye, war criminal. The realm will be happy when they find out the demon that ravaged them and began the war is dead. Any last words? Something for that whore you call a girlfriend to remember you by?" The light creature asks.

"Only a few..." I say, reaching into my cloak.

I quickly throw a shuriken into the light pistol, blocking and damaging it, before jumping up and slicing the light creature in half, bottom to top.

"My girlfriend isn't a whore." I say through grit teeth, moments before the light creature forms a crystal, which I promptly destroy with Shadow Katana.

 

Ihra rushes to your side.
"Your wounds are still healable... right?"

 

"Ugn, yeah, hopefully." I say, the battle clearly taking more of a toll than I first put on.

Artemis runs over and hugs me, shaking yet happy.

 

"Maybe you should go back to be healed... I can't help you much."

 

"Yeah...I'll go find Victus." I say, limping off.

 

Ruby helps you off, along with the draconian you considered imprisoning.
"As much as our people would love to see you die here, I know you mean something to Ihra." Lidnis mutters.


Ihra glances at Sgavrinn.
"Artemis, how long has he been like that?"

 

"I'm not fully sure, but since he's been here." Artemis says.

 

"Why?"
Sgavrinn's ball noticeably loosens, his tail uncurling. However, he still isn't letting go of the crystal.

 

"He's holding onto a crystal that provides light." Myria speaks up.

 

Ihra walks over to Sgavrinn and scratches his neck.
"Hey, buddy, could you let Artemis and I see the crystal?"
His response is something between a growl and a whine.
"Sgavrinn, please?"
Same thing.
"Artemis was being threatened. Shouldn't you go make sure she's okay?"
He whimpers, then slides his head out to find Artemis. Once he does, he pulls her next to him with his tail and worms his head back in the middle of his ball.

Ihra sighs.
"That's not what I meant..."

 

"Sgavrinn, please, show me the crystal," Artemis says kindly, "Please?"

 

Sgavrinn whines, then uncurls enough for Artemis to see a mage crystal glowing brightly.

 

"Thanks, Sgavrinn." Artemis says praisingly, petting Sgavrinn.
