Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Good riddance. I was thinking he might never leave. I take it this Xlentia is the being with the power of true decay? She can't already be here of course, that kind of power is palpable."

 

"... Maybe it was those other two entities that attacked that Dragon woman... I don't know."

 

"Answer me mortal..."
The voice echoes.

You're being watched.

"Yes, she is. She's not here yet, but her presence is undeniable."

"They left before she hit the ground. It was still there then. Oh man... Hate to say this, but glad it's not just us. These mages, so troublesome... I bet one of them did something with it. Maybe that thing somehow... That doesn't even make sense in my mind. Sorry to bother you, but try to get some sleep? You'll want your head clear for the interrogation."

 

"Aj!" Artemis shouts through the void in despair.

Ignoring the strange voices that had been tormenting me whilst in the void, I run back to the location of the voice.

Suddenly, something stabs me in the back, the sheer force throwing me to the floor.

 

"Why are you here..." The voice echoes from all directions.

 

The ground beneath Shadow Katana begins to rupture.

I can't take it anymore, the wounds, the voices...I fall almost unconscious, holding on with what energy I have left.

"Wh-who are y-you?" I weakly ask, flinching as the pain grows.

 

"Take your friend and go!" Rineth's voice shouts from behind.
...
...
"You're alive... That's... all that..."
Rineth collapses. You see Artemis sitting on the other side of his tail.

His body quickly turns limp and cold.

 

"Alright."
A quiet chirp comes from Bowie.
Lazarus is relieved that it wasn't now. He only had a basic idea of what to say. He wasn't good at improvising speech.

 

"Hey! Insane patient number 28! Now is not the time for naps!" A familiar voice says to me, "This giant freaking dragon thing just died for you and you're gonna just lie there? Get the hell up!"

"Wh-what are you doing here?"

"You thought you could take Artemis on one of your grand adventures and get away without me noticing? Grab her and get moving! I'll hold these things off!"

I pick up Artemis' wounded, unconscious body and run while a friend holds off the attackers.

"You totally freaking owe me for this one! You should've known better to come here dumbass!"


Shadow Katana suddenly pulses a wave of dark energy, opening up a portal.

I walk out, holding a girl in two hands which could only be recognised as Artemis.

She's completely unconscious. Bloody vines surround her head and she's covered in bruises, cuts and blood.

I look completely fatigued; while the time away seemed short, I look like I've been in the void for hours.

I lay Artemis down, revealing a large gash across my torso and a bloody wooden hand where my right hand once was.

I collapse, falling to the floor and spilling blood. "I-I told you I'd b-be back! H-heh heh" I manage to say before going completely unconscious.

 

You still don't sleep well. What's crazier is that when you wake up, it's still dark outside.

The clock says seven in the morning... The sky says midnight.

You wake up in a dome of sorts.
"I can't believe Rineth convinced me to save you! You ended up with more than I bargained for. The other guy's still out."
Rineth eyes you closely.
"Best part is, Artemis doesn't know. And you aren't going to tell her."

 

"What do you mean by that?" I ask, looking around for Artemis.

"Where's Artemis!?"

 

"Below you." Ihra smiles.

You're in a bubble of sorts. Ihra's riding on Rineth, who's circling you.
You can see two domes on the ground... The ground's a bit far, though.
"Let me know when you're rested up."

 

"WRAAAAAGH!" I scream, quickly growing wings and flying to the top of the bubble.

"WHY THE HELL AM I UP HERE!?"

I quickly take out my notepad and frantically start writing in it. The expression of fear never fading.

 

"You're awake."
The orb disintegrates and Rineth puts you on his back with his tail.
"Relax, if you want us to trust you, trust us back."

 

"I-Is Artemis awake yet?" I ask, trying to calm my nerves.

 

"Yeah, she is. The other one isn't, I think they're... uh..." Ihra trails off.

 

"'Other one'? Don't say she followed me..." I say putting my head in my hands.

"Does this 'other one' sort of look like me?"

 

"You all look about the same to me."
"See for yourself." Rineth utters solemnly.

He circles down to the ground. Artemis it barely awake, and next to her is exactly who you think it is.
"Lost vitals." He whispers. "I'm sorry... I didn't know they were there. I only saw you two before... I'm not helping, am I? Forgive me."

 

"She'll be fine." I say, staring at my friends body "She just needs some time to rejuvinate. She's far more powerful than I am, and she's gotten out of worse." I admit.

"Her name's Stephanie. She's the Shadow of the golemancer, the one I care about." I say, "I'm sure she'll be fine, she's one of the few Shadows I know to have used the void more than once."

I pause for a moment.

"It'll take a while though."

I notice a note in her hand, it reads 'You totally owe me now.'

 

"WHY DID I SAVE HER?!" Ihra screeches, bolting off Rineth and towards Reflet and 13.

"Mmm, this'll be an issue."
