Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, you hired us... We're kind of required to know your name. Also, last time I checked, running a zoo doesn't mean you're running the island."
They haul her off, but leave a blade; you notice the handle sticking barely out of the ground.
"Why didn't you keep going for the bunker? That thing was down a while, you could've made it."

 

"Oh! I thought you were the dragon. Somehow. I also made the estimated guess that I couldn't before something bad would happen or something. And aren't you guys the park service?!" Lazarus is not taking in the details of the situation (or the person controlling him IRL is an idiot).

 

"Yeah, we are. That doesn't mean we won't cooperate with the rest of the government."
The guard looks around.
"Sorry for the scare, boss. We'll see if we can't lure and keep the rest of these... whatever they're called... in check."
He heads off towards the exit before stopping and turning to you one more time.
"Almost forgot, they're going to want to speak with you in a couple days. They think you helped that thing recover from its wounds. I doubt it, but they said a med-drone was called. Anyhow, just a heads-up. Hope the rest of the day goes better for you, boss!"

...And you're alone again.

 

I fall to the floor, exhausted. "I'll see you soon..." I manage to say before falling to the ground completely unconscious.

The prior events sapped away most of my energy.

 

Again, you're forced awake.
"Stop falling asleep, you nut. That's my job!" Ihra chuckles.

 

"I'm exhausted alright!"

Well, not anymore.

"I guess the only way I'm going to sleep around here is if you're out of the picture..." I say lightheartedly, with a wry smile.

 

"No."
You feel resilient to the daylight.
"Not if I can help it."
You feel well rested, despite the circumstances.
"Mother keeps me on the backlines. Then she starts killing things twice as fast. Then faster! I can be useful." She talks like you're insulting her.

 

"Yes, I would like to have a look."

No, wouldn't be Hades, that's Ihra XD.

 

"Hmm...I guess you could be useful to have around." I say somewhat reluctantly.

"Do you cast Time magic to make time flow slower around your mother then?" I ask, "I could only assume such magics could be cast with a crystal of that power."

I start taking down notes on a notepad that had appeared in my hand a few moments ago. A crude drawing of Ihra can be seen at the bottom, an arrow sticking out of her head and a speech bubble saying 'Ow'.

I giggle to myself lightly.

 

He starts checking on the internet about some things. He already planned to send someone to the Mainland to check out the Multiversr portal thing, but now he is interested the most. He waits however, as missing their questioning would be scandalous.

 

As you step in, the walls seem to be sorted in quarters of the year. There's a box at the bottom filled with what you presume to be older records.
The population appears to be 327, give or take a few.

"No, my mother does that on her own. I just... give her a boost. More energy, shields... the like."
She resumes spreading plants.

You find nothing that's scientifically plausible. The news websites continue to avoid calling it magic, though the more you look (as much as you hate to admit it), the more it seems like magic was the cause.

The rest of the day is mostly silent. You know, aside from the trombones.
Shifts change, the sun starts to set.

A guard knocks at your door.
"Lazarus? Still awake?"

 

"This is very organised. I haven't seen anything like this anywhere before."

 

"Thanks! When you can collaborate with the weather, you can shift your focus to other things. This is where we keep track of the food distribution, the office across the hall is where they keep record of population and names. On the other side is a representative the farmers picked to attend emergency meetings as well as the archivist, if you're still looking around. Either way, nice to meet you! Never thought I'd see an outsider, nonetheless a god, in my time."

 

"Thank you."
I go to the other side to find the archivist.

 

You see a woman sitting on the ground of a much larger office. It looks like she's sorting a bunch of papers scattered across the ground.
She doesn't notice you, but there are filing cabinets just about lining the walls. The drawers all have dates labelled on them.

 

"What is in these?"

 

"Records, wills, statements... If it was ever important and isn't quite as reevant now, itms in here. Can I help you find a-"
She looks up.
"Oops, my bad. Thought you were a resident. Would you like to take a look? It isn't locked, just be careful of the papers I'm working with."

 

"I'll take a look."
I open one of the drawers and look at whatever is inside.

 

It's one of a few unlabeled drawers.

Inside, there's a bunch of papers like you saw on the walls of the first office you visited. There's an old (old old old) textbook and a few wills. Near the back, there's also a few papers with sketches that resemble the shrine you visited first.

 

"What are the things in here? This textbook is very old."
