Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yeah, just haven't been awa- heey, daylight!"
She jumps off Rineth and digs her feet into the ground.
I look back at you, eyes almost devoid of hope.
"Sorry to put that burden on you."

"Records. Harvest, population, the likes. We ration out food with some give for how much people eat. Some months, some families eat a little less. The next, they'll eat a little above average. I handle the numbers."

 

"So these offices basically contain records about what happens in the town?"

 

Trying to forget the events that had ensued whilst Ihra was unconscious, I put my devilish scheme from earlier to work.

I run behind a large rock, out of the sight of the party.

Dark smoke puffs around the edges, only slightly visible. A large clunking sound is heard, as well as a familiar voice "Protect Ihra." "Shush!"

Suddenly, an altered version of my voice is heard, "Ihra, I think it's time we work on getting over your fear of Golems" I say.

I smash through the rock, sending pieces flying everywhere. When the smoke clears, the figure is clearly visible. It's the Crystal Golem from earlier, albeit slightly darker. Due to it's transparency, I can clearly be seen inside wearing the Golem like some kind of suit.

"Hey Ihra!" I say through the Golem.

 

"Correct, though mostly to do with food." They flash a smile and open the door.
"You can come look if you wish. Word spreads fast here."

"You're not helping." She mutters.

Vines wrap around her body, stopping at her shoulders.
Plants begin growing around her.

 

I quickly jump out of the Golem suit and focus my Nature Gauntlets on the growing vines and plants.

They seem to slow them down quite a bit, but not enough to stop them entirely.

"What's happening!?" I say, focusing on the plants.

 

"It's sunny, and I'm taking the energy. By a less painful method than absorbing a mass amount of light magic."

 

I drop my hands.

"You could've at least told me you were going to do something like that! You had me scared!" I exclaim, re-possessing the Golem shortly after.

 

"Sorry."

She and her surroundings are covered in plants and flowers. Rineth steps back to avoid getting caught in the growth.
"Ihra, there's always tomorrow."
"But it's been a while!" Ihra's muffled voice yells out.

"Pardon the youth." Rineth mumbles.

"Probably because the last thing that looked remotely like me died out [100 million years ago in real life]!" Please stop Lazarus before he goes on a huge range like I would in real life.

 

"It's fine" I say, "You tend to get used to plants sprouting up everywhere you have a friend like...the. The creator of these Gauntlets. I was more worried she was going to punch me with a giant vine-fist really"

 

"Okay, okay, don't. I trigger an emergency alarm and the first thing you look to do with me is rant? No wonder your kind went extinct!
Okay, insults aside... Wait... You were behind the others? If this is a zoo, which cage are you usually in?"

"I can't make a vine fist. I can spit on things trapped in vines, though."
The plants on the surface grow outward some more.

You notice clusters of plants sprouting in other places. Ihra's horns start to glow pink and blue like before, albeit faintly in comparison.

 

"I'm not. I merged with human society because of my excessive brain density. I'm technically a raven. Ravens are really smart. I just have a bunch of genes from other animals. Mostly birds, because, dinosaurs and stuff."

 

"Hmph, at least Artemis has the decency to not spit on me when she traps me like that..." I mutter to myself.

I pause for a moment, relaying what I just said to myself in my head, a look of shock in my eyes.

"H...heh, you guys didn't hear what I just said...right?" I say nervously.

 

"Okay... I give up. You're one of these dinosaur things... but you run the zoo? Why exactly did anyone think that's a good idea?"

"Maybe." Rineth and I say simultaneously.
Ihra's blissfully unaware.

 

"Beats me. Though, I guess it would kind of be like running a zoo of primates or... Whatever closely related dragon thing is on your world. But we also have ravens here so...
Nevermind."

 

"The dragon... Speaks regular language?"

 

"Second thought, how do you operate human machinery? You look more like a... Ah hell, I don't even know..."

 

I sigh...

"Well, I guess you were going to find out eventually. She's the one with the green hair and bow you saw in that crystal vision I showed you; and the one that won't hesitate to kill you, Rineth. She'd probably kill Ihra too if she found out she was a necromancer." I explain.

"She's what we call a 'Forest Guardian', or in more ancient terms, a 'Guardian of Life'. A lot of her kind spends their time in forests, and, if it wasn't already obvious, have the powers to control nature."

"She always has my back, no matter what she, or I, does. I...kinda miss her. She might sound a little hostile from what I've said about her...murderous, tendencies, but she's one of the nicest people I know." I admit, sounding a little sorrowful.

"These Guantlets are simply a fraction of the armour she wears. She has large wooden plates and interwoven vines and leaves, which allow her to protect herself by manipulating the armour."

"The Amulet was a gift from her...I-I'm unsure if I'll be able to contact her, or any of the others anymore without something like it."

After explaining all this, I go sit down in a patch of flowers that had grown; staring at my gauntlets.

 

"Vesius gave it to the others, I took it from Ihra. Voidwalkers have knowledge of more languanges than would be neccesary for most tasks... Except trans-dimensional babysitting doesn't count as 'most tasks' last time I checked."

"She's a healer. The staff's a necromancer." I walk up near you.
"If there's any way to get contact with your friends, we'll try. Even if it means hiding Ihra."
"Forest guardian? I wanna meet them!"
"No you don't."
"Yes I do!"
"Oh god."

 

"Maybe...maybe there's a way you can meet her, Ihra..." I say, staring at the crystal in the staff.

"She's not exactly a healer, and...I mean...she wouldn't murder Ihra if she didn't know about the necromantic properties" I say, eyes affixed on the crystal.

The once-possessed Golem wanders around the naturistic area it has found itself in.

"That crystals power...I wonder..." I say in an almost entranced way. I subconciously start to reach in the general direction of the crystal.

I'm encapsulated by the crystal, my eyes affixed to it.
