Ihra and Crystal notice me walking over.
"Hey, guys, I might need your help."
I say.

 

Lidnis sits up again.
"Do with me what you will." She says, eyes seemingly glazed over.

"Sure! What's going on?"

 

I seem to have been pondering for quite some time.

"Send her back with a team of guardians to assist her and her people." I say.

A guard uncuffs Lidnis.

"Don't make me regret this decision." I warn.

 

She doesn't budge.
"Why...?"

 

"I have seen your plight, and I have come to a fair judgement. You will be sent back with a team of elite guardians to help your people. I would like to personally apologise for letting my experiences cloud my judgement earlier. Please leave, for I require a private word with Stephanie." I say.

A guard leads Lidnis out of the throne room.

 

Once outside, Lidnis sighs.
"Where's my staff?"

 

Lidnis' staff appears in the guard's hands, which he gives to Lidnis.

"We'll arrange a team of guardians for you." Another guard says, walking off.

 

Lidnis takes the staff and warps a few things.
"How do I trust the guardians? They're the same as who killed and wounded, are they not?"

 

"They'll be under strict orders to assist you. These are elites, they know the punishments for disobeying orders." The guard says.

A short while later, a small group of six guardians of each element walk over. The earth guardian of the group offers a handshake, "Tirra. Nice to meet you." She says, smiling.

 

Lidnis takes the handshake straight-faced.
"Lidnis. Hope you bring something to eat; there hasn't been much for the past month."

 

"We can hopefully fix that problem. Victus, by the way." Victus says, offering a handshake too.

"This is Mortimer, Ignia, Aqui and Aeris." Tirra says, pointing to the other guardians as she says their names.

 

"Step one; figure out how to grow food. Step two; heal the frail. Step three; we have about a month before our city is submerged in magma." Lidnis says, bloody serious.

 

"I'll help with Victus to grow food." Aqui says.

"I'll also work with Victus to heal those in need." Mortimer says.

"Then Ignia, Aeris and I will work on adding supports to your city and, worst case scenario, creating walls and shields to stop the magma." Tirra says, saluting with the other guardians.

 

"Great. I'll just wait until I can get back home."

 

A portal opens up beside the party.

"I think that's the way to your home..." Aeris says quietly.

 

Lidnis walks through.

 

The guardians follow, and they party finds themselves back in the Brisingr city.

"Where are your farms located, or where would you like them to be?" Victus asks.

 

"Make something work. No sun, no farms. Our healers already died off." Lidnis says, walking back to city hall.

 

Victus and Aqui go looking for any areas with soil, while Ignia looks for a way into the lava and Tirra studies the state of the ground. Aeris decides to take a look around the city.

 

There's some soil in the town park, along with Ihra.

The bottom entrance seems to have been opened for Ignia.

Aeris sees a city mostly in ruins, some buildings seemingly upside down. There's a destroyed generator and mangled corpses outside the power plant entry.
