I seem to be giving Enqo a strange look, and my eyes glow red, brightly.

 

He says telepathically, "Ah, so you can see me. Can I help you?"

 

"Are you the one I've been warned about called 'Mr. E'?" I ask.

 

"There are some people, like me, who give off that kind of vibe naturally."

 

"My name's Enqo, so yes."

"I see what you mean. I'm keeping an eye on him though."

 

"Thank the stars... I'm... *yawn* This isn't a one leader job, if you know what I mean... I'm wiped..."
It... doesn't seem like the king's going to be awake for long.

"Hehee, that's only amusing because I spent a large portion of my life being a librarian. I think I like you."

 

"Why are you here? Do you bring ill intentions?" I ask.

 

"Have you got the news that the Shrouded Peaks are back? If you haven't, then I would suggest to spread it among the people. They could rebuild the old mines, and make new ones. Also, other than the old trade routes, what do the people want?"

"Thanks. Funny you should say that, because I've just been to an interesting library in Terrae's kingdom. Where was your library?"

"No, I just want to keep an eye on Eras and those close to him, without Eras knowing I'm here."

 

"Alright, I'll keep your identity secret." I say.

 

"Thank you. What is your name?"

 

"Call me Aj." I say.

 

"No, we haven't. Maybe that'll bring the people to their senses; ease our struggle. Other than that, they think we were in part responsible for the loss of Brisingr. Furthermore, they're worried that something similar may happen to us."

"Mine was in the Void, but I didn't know Terrae had a library. I may give it a look sometime."

 

"Aj? Interesting name."

"Yes, I heard about that. I'm still not entirely sure what happened to Brisingr, but apparently it had something to do with their god, Reflet. It seems something happened to her, and Brisingr suddenly collapsed. Have you tried anything to satisfy the people?"

"In the Void? That's an interesting place to have a library. That reminds me of Eras' pillars, which tell the history of the Darklands... and doesn't seem to work in the way he wants it to."

 

"I haven't tried anything yet; I was hoping you would have ideas that wouldn't make matters worse."

"History writes itself; not his fault the pillars do their own thing. Sounds like something I'd have to see for myself."

 

"Well, Shadow Aj." I admit.

I walk over to Rineth.
"Might I ask, what exactly are we waiting for?"

 

"I have a feeling your guest is having conversations. Several of those on my back seem distracted."

 

"Ah, I see."

 

"Hmm... to solve the problem, we have to make them feel more secure. The problem is, if we send more armed forces into the streets to reassure them, that might make them more worried, or even make them think we're threatening them. Other than the Infernal Beast, have any more monsters attacked the city or other settlements recently?"

"He might not know how to use it properly. Or maybe it wasn't completed. After all, it wasn't actually made by him in the first place. And if you do, I would recommend using the second and third pillars. Those were the better ones, and the others may accidently throw you at a memory you won't want to see."
