Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

OOC: We aren't really in the desert anymore.
I try to fall asleep, keeping my weapons near me in case of an ambush.

 

OOC: Opal's making a comparison to the desert where he was held in captivity.

The night is quiet, and when you wake up as the sun's rising, Opal is still asleep.

 

I snap my fingers, causing a small flame to appear on one of them. I walk around to try to find the ruins.
"This better not be one of those flammable fogs." I comment.

HH nods, clearly interested, and puts it back in the shelf.
"I think it's time to explore the palace again." He says, before proceeding to walk out of the library.

 

"It could be. It could be anything powerful enough to force Wind Dragons to flee."
One of the Wind Dragons turns to Keila and shrieks weakly.

After a while, you notice a glow to your right. It seems to be coming from the ground.

 

I summon a small whirlwind to try and blow some fog off to see the light more clearly.

 

Xlentia's tail can be seen sliding around a corner out of sight. Several guards seem to be asking her about her excursion.

"I don't think this thing fought them; I think it's trying to starve them."

"It's okay. I won't hurt you."
She tries to make herself look non-threatening.

 

HH follows Xlentia, making sure to keep a respectful distance.

 

You can overhear one question before she heads off back to her hoard;

"What were the sacrifices about?"
"Oh, they're just something that lesser beings use to try to appease gods."

 

HH approaches one of the guards, pulling his hood over his head.

"Where did the Misstress head off to?" He asks.

 

"I'm not sure, but she mentioned a cult that made a substantial sacrifice in attempt to summon her. She decided to give them what they wanted."

 

"And what exactly did she and the cult do?"

 

The light seems to form a path which goes into the distance. The path seems to be based off an old and extremely worn path which is missing in some places. The light seems to be getting brighter.

"Or it could be forcing them to go to other places for food. And Aurilon happens to be the closest place to here with at least some food."

It weakly walks over to Keila, sniffing her.

 

"The cult sacrificed fifty people in hopes she'd make an appearance. She showed up, and that was mostly it. She spent a night around their encampment, but other than that she didn't do much."

"I don't know of any tunneling beasts that could be here on an island, though. It could be a lot of things... What do we do, though?"

She holds her hand out, letting it sniff her and scratches it gently if possible.

 

I cough to get attention.

"Artemis, Abigail, Stephanie; may I have a moment with you three?" I ask.

"As long as this isn't some kind of trap, sure." Stephanie says sceptically.

The four of us walk off and start whispering amongst ourselves suspiciously.

 

You can hear a slight noise from the grass nearby after you walk off.

 

Abigail blasts the grass with a fireball.

"Abigail!" Artemis says, annoyed.

"What?" Abigail asks.

 

A petrified, bug-eyed Ihra is now visible sitting behind the grass.

 

"Oops." Abigail says casually.

Artemis runs over to Ihra, "Are you alright?" She asks, nervous.

 

She just sits there, trembling but otherwise unmoving.

 

"Abigail, you've really scared her!" Artemis says.

Abigail just shrugs.
