Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"You're just in the forest; I'm sure you can find your way back to the birthlake." Artemis responds.

 

HH skims over it to find he most interesting looking bird.

 

There's a rather colorful bird labelled "hummingbird." They're not aggressive, but extremely rare.

 

The snow disappears slightly, so that Keila can be seen without the Wind Dragons spotting her.
It seems that there are two Wind Dragons, possibly a pair. They seem to be searching the area for something.

"There used to be a path going from here to the city. It might be worn, so you could lose the path. If you lose the path, go west until you reach the west coast. By then, you should be able to see the ruins on the cliffs to the south.

"I don't know where it is... I don't recognise this part of the forest..."

 

Wooden hands sprout out of the ground, random distances apart, and point in a direction through the forest.

 

Keila looks for anything else, able to see through the storm.
"Eras? There seems to be only two here."

 

HH continues to read about this creature.

"All right. Is there any way you can give me a mental image of the ruins?"

 

Yver says, "Thank you!", before following the wooden hands.

"That would be this part of the island. There could be more in the other places, or in caves. Or they could be flying around."

"No, sorry. The only way we find out about places outside the forest is by using the wind in the forest, which can't exactly see them as much as sense them."

 

After following the wooden hands for a while, Yver finds himself back with the group. Artemis smiles at him.

 

They're small, passive, and tend to stay near flowers. There's a "do not kill" label near the bottom of the page, with the following handwritten text below;
"Small bird, non-aggressive. No need to kill, plus mistress mentioned enjoying bird watching"

"They're looking for something."
Keila drops closer to the ground.

 

Yver says, "Thank you!", and curls up on the ground next to Artemis.

"It could be food or ores. Especially ores."
The Wind Dragons, on being closer, look smaller and thinner, as if they haven't eaten much.

 

"They're starving, probably. How's the rubble of those mountains in the Darklands in terms of ore?"

 

Artemis doesn't really know what to think, so just leaves Yver be.

 

"Well, I'll do all that once you're safe on the island. It sounds like you've had a pretty rough time." I start setting up a camp, using grass to make makeshift mattresses.

 

"If you insist. I'd hate to see you throw your life away just like that, though."

 

"The mountains should have plenty of ore. But so do these islands. Something must be forcing them to spend more time hiding or running than hunting and eating."

 

"Very well. It has been a pleasure meeting you." I say, and then try to head to the direction that the lake gave me.

"Bird watching, eh?"
HH puts the book back and pulls out another book.

 

After making the grass mattress for us, I say, "I made some makeshift beds. I'm not sure if you'll be able to fit on yours, I made it as large as I could. Tell me if you need it bigger."

 

Going towards the west side of the forest, a path opens for you.
Like before, once you pass through, it starts closing behind you, as well as continuing to open in front of you.
A while later, you come out of the forest.
The rest of the island seems to be slightly foggy, making it hard to see.

 

"Might there be a burrowing creature that's scaring them off?"
Keila gets even closer, now visible to the two Wind Dragons.

It's a book on disabling effects and gives general strategies for fighting under disadvantageous conditions.

"This is fine. Anything's better than laying on the desert sand for the night; thanks."
