"Well, thinking about it now, I could have toes if I wanted to... but I don't find much of a use in them."

 

"They help you stay balanced!" Katie says happily.

 

"I've had no problems with balance, but okay. Maybe it's easier, or something. I'm not human, I wouldn't know."

 

"Yeah, haha." Katie says happily.

 

"You've been treading for a while. Wanna stand on something? It's much easier."
Crystal offers.

 

"How about the path opening again?" I ask.

"Not quite. There are some rare patches in the Wastelands that can support farming and life, and you better bet that there are kingdoms monopolizing it. Other than that, there are kingdoms who survive solely on food exports and mining imports. It's quite the dangerous act, if you ask me."

 

"Oh, yeah, thanks." Katie says happily.

 

"Interesting... Sounds like an interesting place."

 

After she says this, there seems to be something below her feet, supporting her.
"It's just a trick a learned while practicing magic. It can be used at any depth, which is cool as well. But, please don't walk while it's activated. It only makes it harder."

 

"It is."

 

"What is it?" Katie asks, trying to look through the water.

 

She only sees water.
"It's just the water pushing you up. Think of it as like there's two Katies. One's you, and the other is below you. You're currently standing on the bottom of the feet of that Katie, which is not sinking, but rising. Because you two are sinking and rising at the same force, you're just standing still. Now take that and imagine that the other Katie's not actually there, it's just water."

 

"Oh, well I could just form some ice to stand on; but I didn't want to because I was worried it might hurt the birthlake, since it's sentient. I guess this doesn't hurt the birthlake as much, haha." Katie says, laughing.

 

"You could, if the birthlake was fine with it, but that with the thing that I do, you don't actually have to stand, you're just floating. But you can do what you want, I just like being nice."

 

"I like being nice too. It's nice to be nice," Katie says, laughing, "Making other people happy makes me happy; because I've made them happy."

 

"That's how it works!"
Crystal says affirmatively.
"Could you say that it's nice to be nice, but mostly with ice?"
Crystal smiles.

 

Holy shit there are so many replies to this...

 

"It's nice to be nice with ice while eating some rice!" Katie says, smiling back.

Yeah...there is.
