Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The root crawls slower towards Artemis. It seems curious.

"Dragons? Draconian dragons or monsters?"

You see a strange root crawling towards Artemis, but it looks more curious than murderous.
There are some strange mushrooms on the side of the path.

You notice that the path is closing behind the group as they pass.
There are some very tall and large trees nearby. They almost seem to make a path through the trees. Is it just your imagination, or does there seem to be something further into the trees?

 

"Not usually." Artemis says.

Artemis reaches out to the root.

 

It backs away slightly, but then walks forward to let Artemis touch it.

 

Artemis gently grabs onto it, and her hand starts glowing. Artemis closes her eyes and focuses, trying to find what controls the root.

 

If a root could look confused, then this root looks confused.
The root doesn't seem to be controlled by anything. It seems to have adapted to walk around.

 

Artemis tries to find out the source of the root's life.

 

It, like all plants, has a life form itself. The root also seems to gain energy from everywhere around it, which seems likely to be the magic around the Birthlake.

 

Artemis lets go of the root.

"How close is the birthlake?" Artemis asks.

 

"I'm not sure, but they're probably not draconian dragons. They're all too similar for that. They have metallic scales, that's all I remember off the top of my head."

"Is he just bored, then?"

 

"I could talk to him about it. We're usually quite open with each other about our feelings." Artemis says.

A carved totem, made out of ruby, appears in front of Ruby. It bears a tormented face.

"Boo!" I shout.

 

"I think he's just bored." Ruby mutters, pushing the totem aside.

 

"Yeah, well...you killed innocent draconians!" I say, appearing next to Artemis.

"Didn't we technically do that too?" Artemis asks.

 

"Hold on, slow down. Where are you coming from this time?"

 

"Well, I would've thought at least some of them would have been your old friends, maybe, so you killed your friends!" I say.

 

"They died quite a while ago."

 

"Well, yeah. I probably killed them too." I say.

Artemis takes my hand and starts dragging me away, "Come on, let's go see this birthlake. You don't need to try and enact some sort of revenge on Ruby." She says.

 

"You didn't come here to kill me, anyways."

 

Artemis and I walk away, talking to each other. I seem annoyed.

"I think those two are perfect for each other." Stephanie comments.

 

"They're one of the best couples I've seen, and hell have I seen a lot."

 

"They keep each other from killing people, that's for certain. Besides, they're undoubtably deeply in love with each other, and they'd never do anything that would hurt the other deliberately; I'm happy for them." Stephanie says, smiling.
