"If that was part of the spell, yes," Stephanie says, tentatively reaching for the staff, "Uh, maybe it's best I keep hold of that."

 

"It's going to be fun. We'll get to see a beautiful lake, as well as maybe what it does."

 

"I'm not going to do that. That'd kill me."
Ruby levitates a bit further away.

"And it's magic!"
"As long as I don't get too wet..."

 

"Well, alright. Maybe you could test it out on this 'Living Forest' if it tries to digest us or something." Stephanie says.

 

"What's wrong with getting wet? Other than being uncomfortable."

 

Arnold goes back to the page he was at, since there would probably be a visible gap in the book where the page was torn out, and starts reading.

"Has anything tried to attack Aurilon recently?"

"Oh, that plant was harmless. I think we surprised it."
The plants seem to be more and more vibrant. They are many different strange types of plant.
Some leaves seem to shimmer at the side of the path.
The light seems to be green because of the leaves above.
The root appears again and walks slowly, possibly hesitantly, towards the totem which is Aj, Artemis and Katie.

 

Katie jumps off and hides behind me.

"I don't like it!" Katie says.

Artemis carefully gets off of my shoulders, and walks toward the root, curious.

 

"Alright. Last resort- noted."

"You're a robot. You ought to know."

*reading continues*

"Several dragons, but nothing other than that."

 

"Oh. Well, yeah. True, then."

OOC: Oh, that was Iruk saying that. Whoops. Maybe just pretend like that never happened?

 

Stephanie seems uneasy, "Just...don't kill us." She says nervously.

 

OOC: Either was works.

"Thought so."
He nervously smiles at you.

"Yeah, yeah. You think I was revered as a goddess for being careless?"

 

"Maybe someday you can get a water-resistant enchantment or something. Who knows?"

 

"I know, I'm just looking out for my friends." Stephanie says.

 

"That'd be nice. Funny thing is, I'm built as an Aquos."

"Don't worry, I'm not gonna roast you guys."
Pause.
"Without permission."

 

"Really? How about I roast you?" I ask.

"Say, it must really suck to be revered as a goddess when you're worshipping a real goddess, which you can't be." I say, grinning.

 

"Okay then." I toss him one of the packs. "It's filled with food and water. It's a bit heavy, I know, but we'll need to be able to travel for a while."

 

"...What's that supposed to do, then, for a mercenary robot?"

 

"Sometimes, we both were. Besides, I forged her scales. I'll be damned and dead before you pierce one."

"Oof... alright. It's weird on the wings, but it'll do. Thanks."

He sprays a small jet of water from his wrist.
"It's only ironic because I'm a robot."

 

"Damn you!" I shout, grinning.

"Don't dragons need to shed their scales, though?" Artemis asks.

 

"Yeah. I'm not sure why that would even be of much use... It's not like your average target is going to be mortally wounded by water."
