Arnold teleports slightly to the side.
"You found it. Wherever it is, read the page again and tear it out before you blink or look past it."

"So... The forest isn't dangerous until you have a problem. Great. I'll watch from above. I'd rather not get dragged to the ground..."
"As long as Sgavrinn can fit, I'm still curious."
"I have your back, Ragnyon. Besides, if they're plants, we can handle them!"
"Can it sense robots?"

"Rations are near the dried meat you bought earlier. Be careful not to overpack."

 

Arnold flips back to the page he just read (I'm assuming he turned over?).
Making sure not to blink, he tears out the page.
"Do you need it, or should I just destroy it?"

"It can be dangerous, but that's what happens if magic affects life for a long time. Some plants turned evil over time. If we do see one, we'll destroy it. It isn't good to have plants like those around anyway. Yes, Sgavrinn should be able to fit, as will everyone except Rineth. And no, they can only detect other living things. It can't detect robots, magical constructions and most other unnatural beings."

 

"Destroy it."

"Buddy, careful not to wake Artemis!" Ihra whispers to Sgavrinn.
"Alright, I'll go. I'm curious, now."

 

OOC: They only cut Arnold's arm off, right? I'm guessing he still has his cannon.

He passes through the opening in the branches. More branches and plants behind them move out of his way.
A purple flower on a tree moves towards the group.

 

I start grabbing foods that won't spoil. I make sure to get enough to fill the backpacks up, but not let them get to heavy. I set the money on the counter.

 

Following the group, I notice the flower.
"So, how do you know if a plant has bad intentions?"

 

"When it tries to grab you, eat you, spit acid at you, crush you or slice you in half. They are also never green or brown. Oh, and the flower at the entrance is just... I guess you could call it a guard flower? I gave the forest memories of everyone in the group, so it makes sure that you are all friendly."

 

"I might be asking this a lot, but is the purple one moving towards our group friendly?"
I gesture to the flower.

 

OOC: Correct.

"Oh... oh gods, you really weren't kidding..."

"Sir, you don't quite have enough money. Do you want me to show you what you can afford?"

 

"That's the guard flower."

Arnold puts down the book.
He throws the page in the air and blasts it with his energy cannon.

"Don't worry, that flower won't harm you. It's just making sure you are the people it knows are with me."

 

The page pretty much disintegrates.
"Well, that's the end of that..."

"So it is the guard flower... alright."
Sgavrinn sniffs at it.

 

"Yes." I say.

 

"Whoever made the glyph could have made more... wait, are the authors the people who write the glyphs or do other people write them?"

It looks down at him for a few seconds, before moving to the rest of the group.

 

The cashier removes about a third of what you brought up.
"I hope that's enough for what you're doing."

"The authors write them, then when they finish the book, it starts working."

Ihra looks at it curiously.
"So, it's just checking to see if we're with you? What about Iruk, if it can't detect robots?"

 

"So the author of this one would have had to be here at some point to create the glyph?"
Arnold checks the front cover to see who the author is (if it says the author's name).

It looks down at Ihra for a few seconds, like it did with Sgavrinn, then moves on.
"I tell the plants anyway, just in case they close around something which is moving but doesn't seem to be living. If they find something which could be Iruk, they will assume it is Iruk and tell me where he is."

 

"It should be." I load the food into the backpacks and start walking to Dr. Warren's house.

 

It doesn't have an author named, and the title is extremely generic: "Common Tongue to Dacori"
"Most likely."

"So, Iruk and Thirteen make two things they'll just make assumptions about..."

Keila runs up to the group, held up by Aria and Rina.
"Sorry we're slow, mother just got up."
"I asked Rineth to watch over Aurilon while the barrier is down. I hope that's alright with you."

"Safe travels!" The cashier says as you walk out.

Opal seems to be enjoying the shade of Warren's patio.
"Are we about ready to head out?"

 

"If you are. Warren said we could just leave whenever we wanted, so there's nothing stopping us."

 

"The book doesn't say its author... they obviously don't want anyone to know who they are."

"Iruk yes, not sure about Thirteen. The plants can detect pulse and brain signals. If he has either, they can detect him...
... which is the same for any dangerous plants we come across."
I say, "You're leaving Aurilon for a while to see the Birthlake? Well, Rineth is meant to be a guardian."

 

"Well, I'm as ready as I'm going to get. Still a bit dizzy, but better than having a hole in my chest."

"That's... a bit of an obvious statement."

"I am. I heard good things about it, plus I feel bad for flooding the Lost Kingdom as much as I did."
