Ruby snags it.
"Sounds like my kind of toy."

 

"I'd be careful with that, Ruby. It's dangerous to use, especially with a crystal like that." Stephanie says, summoning an ancient-looking tome in her hands. A red eye rests on the cover, which she strokes. The eye turns blue, and Stephanie opens the tome, flipping through the pages.

 

"Just how bad is it? Worried it'll amplify my powers?"

 

"I'm trying to find that out." Stephanie says, flipping through the tome. Drawings of crystals can be seen on the pages.

 

"Alright, if you need it, tell me."

 

Stephanie seems quite engrossed in her tome, "Mmhmm." Stephanie mutters, reading through the pages.

 

"Well, tell me when you find it."

 

"Ok, I will." Stephanie says, reading. The page looks to be titled 'Pure Crystals'.

 

Ruby floats over, upside down, looking at the page.

 

The ancient-looking page seems to explain the capabilities of apparently rare 'Pure' mage crystals, and how they can be used for their power in staffs and other weapons. Stephanie turns the page, and the title 'White Pure Crystals' can be seen, next to a danger sign.

 

"Ooh, repurcussions."
Ruby gets closer.

 

Noticing Ruby, Stephanie puts her hand over the page and closes the tome. She places her hand over the eye, and it turns a strange purple-blue. When Stephanie re-opens the tome, the words just look like garbled nonsense; to Ruby, at least.

 

Keeping quiet, Ruby alters her vision to read it, from a slightly longer distance this time.

 

The tome, albeit still hard to read, tells about the very destructive properties of pure white crystals. In some cases, they've supposedly erased things from existence, or overcharged their user to the point they explode into magic itself.

 

"You ought to work on your magic ciphers, Stephanie. Knowing my curse as-is, I think it's best I take it, seeing it's not adding any new dangers for me."

 

"Your curse?" Stephanie asks, placing two fingers on the eye this time. It turns black, and the tome seemingly disappears shortly after.

 

"I am magic. My body is a vessel of energy, life energy. Exploding into magical energy? I already do that when overcharged."

 

"Well, they do have the closest ties to magic, and can hold the most. I guess it's better you keep it." Stephanie says.

 

"Wait, they can hold magic? Hey... I can use it to store excess!"

 

"Try not to overcharge it. They tend to release it on the areas around them, often to drastic effects." Stephanie says.
