Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Yeah, she's a Leviathan right? She sounds super cool!" Katie says happily, smiling.

 

Kai's head peeks out of the water, making Aria tower over Katie.
"It's okay, girl. She's a friend."
Kai eyes you curiously.

 

Katie swims up to Kai slowly, showing her empty hands; her trident stuck in a small iceberg floating nearby.

"Hey, Kai." Katie says slowly and calmly.

 

Kai swirls a bit of water gently around Katie before giving off a deep (something between a hum and a growl).
"She likes you already, it seems."
Xephyr smiles from behind.

 

Katie giggles, carefully reaching out to pet Kai.

"Don't worry, Kai. I just want to pet you." Katie says soothingly. Her voice is oddly calming.

 

She comes a bit closer, staying almost perfectly still.

 

Katie gently pets Kai, though wary of her actions.

"Who's a good girl?" Katie asks sweetly.

 

Kai closes her eyes slowly.
"You could come ride her with me for a while if you want."

 

"Really? You'd let me ride her?" Katie asks, surprised and excited.

 

"Hop on. You can even bring your trident. I'll show you a coral reef I found a few days ago!"

 

"Awesome!" Katie says, swimming back to her trident before changing her tail back to her legs, swimming toward Kai and getting on.

"Thanks so much for this!" Katie says happily.

 

"A friend of Kai is a friend of mother!"
Kai sinks her head underwater and starts swimming off towards the bottom of the ocean.
"I notice you don't have a storm brace. You must never have been to my homeland. Maybe I could introduce you to my sisters later."

 

"A storm brace doesn't sound too good underwater; I'd get electrocuted!" Katie says, the crystals on her trident glowing and lighting the water around her.

 

"So is it all good, or not?"
I ask him.

 

"No, that's not how it works! There's a storm barrier protecting my homeland. We haven't seen war in generations... but mother is still scared of the outside world. She hides within the barrier, and only those with a storm brace can enter or leave at will without dying."

 

"Whoa. I guess your mother just wants to protect you then." Katie says, smiling.

 

"And our people. If you ever see a brutal hurricane in the distance, don't be too concerned; mother's probably warding off those who don't wish us well."

 

"I hope I make a good first impression, then. I don't want to be mean to anyone," Katie says, somewhat nervously, "If I ever meet her, that is. She sounds sort of scary."

 

Elyra starts teleporting down the chain, going from island to island.

 

"She's very kind. She treats every one of my people like her child. But, nobody's armed, so she regrets being forced to take the stance she has."

As you approach, more humanoid dragons stand on a city wall behind the wall of lava.
They all seem to be staring at you.
"Who are you and what do you seek?" One of them asks telepathically.
