Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Mmm... I might be able to do that. Where is this Conhir?"

 

"It's the only intact city left in Brisingr. The shield they have up is really something; the draconians who keep the shield up aren't even phased by the magma, or so I've heard. If you see a bubble of lava, there's an entry platform they built at every cardinal direction and above their city. And I have to give them credit, for not being humans, they're really good craftsmen and pretty nice and humble. It should be on the other side of Brisingr, on the Darklands border."

 

"That's far. But alright, I'll head that way."

 

"Here, you'll need something to pay for it. I hope you don't run off with this, but here."
He hands you a bag with metal filings in it; it's heavy, but manageable.
"That stuff is rather common in Gargantuan, but they go crazy for it. That'll get you an easy trade for supplies."

 

"I think that's how she's going to get back." Artemis says.


Stephanie looks around where the portal lead out.

 

"Ah, I see."


It leads to a beach, just a few inches from the water.

 

"Hmm, interesting. I don't think this is the lost kingdom though." Stephanie says to herself.

"It doesn't look lost or a kingdom really." Stephanie also says to herself.

Stephanie turns to head back through the portal.

 

She gets through the portal safely.
"Do you want your crystal back?"
I ask, holding up the dropped crystal.

 

"Yeah, thanks." Stephanie says, holding out her hand.

Stephanie turns to Rineth and the others, "It leads to a beach. Quite pleasant, but I don't think it's what we're looking for." She says.

 

I hand it over to Stephanie.

"I did it as best as I could, however, since I have not been there previously, it was mostly just a shot at the dark."

 

"So, are we all just flying now, or are you going to try and open another?"
I ask Dominus.

 

"Thanks. I guess we're flying, then." Stephanie says, taking the crystal. She hovers above the ground slightly.

 

"Actually, it may be the island. The image I saw of The Lost Kingdom was an island. Might as well ask the man himself if it is the Lost Kingdom or not."

I walk over to the person who showed me the image.
"It's safe, but we're not sure if it's The Lost Kingsom or not. It leads to a beach, a few inches away from the water."

 

"That's fine."

OOC: How much Dacori does Arnold know so far then?

"I could be. But then again, it could also be either anywhere on the coast or it could go to another island. Right... I'll go through and teleport back to tell you what it is."
He goes through the portal.

 

"Thanks. I guess I'll... See you later, then?"

 

I look for some work, preferably a job that can be done in a few hours.

 

"I'm still open to flying."

OOC: He knows enough to carry on a basic conversation in the language. Think of it like being able to speak english enough to understand and be understood, but pretty basic vocabulary.

"I hope. Straight east, by the way."
There's a rather convenient island chain, most of them just more like floating rocks, leading to a wall of lava.

At the inn, you manage to find a job checking rooms for used towels. It pays a decent amount, but it only lasts until about 10:30 until the night shift comes in.

 

"I'd rather fly," Katie says, "It's a lot safer than teleporting to somewhere that might be the lost kingdom through an unstable portal."

"I agree with Katie. Flying sounds better." Artemis says.

 

Sgavrinn hums happily, hugging Artemis with his wing.

"Ihra, would you mind helping Terrae recuperate some of the energy he expended?"
"Sure."

Vines wrap around your feet, and you feel significantly less weary.

 

Artemis hugs Sgavrinn, a little tight.

"Thanks, Sgavrinn. I'm starting to really miss Aj." Artemis says, gently petting Sgavrinn.
