Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The girl sees no downsides to taking the bracelet. She reaches out with her mind, attempting to psychically pry it off.

 

"The Dark Age?"

You succeed with one, but the other seems immune to the attempt.

 

"Yes. It is the darkest moment in my kingdom's history."

 

The girl gives a frustrated hiss, and tries to physically pull the other one off.

 

"That was kind of implied. What happened? Plague? Riot?"

That works easily, though the scales are still fused.

 

"Famine and War. Lots of it."

 

The girl tries to pry the scales off as well. She'd use her mind first, and all those that didn't come of with that, she'd try to cut through with her dagger.

 

"Sounds hard to get out of."

The dagger whittles most of the remains off, but there are trace amounts left that just won't come off.

 

"Well, we did end up getting out of it. Now my kingdom is the most prosperous in The Wastelands. Just goes to show how strong-willed my people are."

 

The girl seems to give up, pocketing the bracelets with the scales still fused on.

 

"Or how strong they are. That was probably fixed by conquest, knowing your title."

They seem to do nothing whilst pocketed.
Well, there's something to play with later on. Maybe it's time you went back around those things that traced you.

 

"Yes and no. The War was ended by conquest, yes, although not annexation. The Famine was ended with the continued development and growth of one of the only places in The Wastelands capable of growing crops and plantlife."

 

The girl heads back towards where she last saw the lava plume, opting this time to take the long way around.

 

"The Wastelands? Sounds like your kingdom could use my help. I might offer if I wasn't busy."

The further you go, the more you realize it's not one large lava plume, it's hundreds of them.

 

"I doubt it's even possible to restore it. Perhaps before The Dark Age it may have been possible."

 

The girl skirts around the edge of the lava plume field when she gets close enough, searching for a source or a reason to the plumes.

 

"Destruction is not always the solution."

There's no apparent reason, but semi-islands of rock and magic seem to be amidst the chaos.
It's like a whole region just fell into the planet.

 

"But when a coalition of kingdoms decide that they think they should destroy you, and they won't negotiate for the second time, there's really a slim amount of choices left, am I right?"

 

"You must've really done a number on them..."

 

"I mostly did the extreme to show my people that I'm not one that can be easily usurped or defect against. However, I am very lenient. I do not force everyone in my kingdom, and to an extent the wastelands, to like me."
