Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I make slight body movements to dodge the shurikens, while coming towards Stephanie at a faster pace.

 

You only manage to dodge a few of the shurikens, the rest hitting you. Stephanie flies over your head, flipping upside down and throwing three paper shurikens toward you.

"Can't catch me!" Stephanie taunts.

 

"I... uhh... yes... I guess so."

"And what makes you think that? And how would I be able to?"

"Well, a lot of things happened to us... Xlentia appeared and tried to kill everyone, but Aj stopped her somehow."

 

"I mean grounded and in a coma."

Rineth just lets Abigail be, laying down for a nap.

"Bring her to Stephanie, maybe? She's a sorceress."

"You can transform. I don't know what you're truly capable of."

"Well then... Is she okay? Wait... Who's that? Those bracelets just... What is she doing?"

 

After a while, a skull emerges from the pool of lava. It looks at Rineth and Ihra through the wooden spikes, lava dripping from its empty eye sockets and mouth.

"Psst, hey!" the skull says.

 

"No, Abigail." Ihra mutters, still fiddling with the notepad.

 

"Aw, you're no fun! I was just going to offer a skele-hug!" Abigail says.

 

"I'm talking to Aj right now. There... uh... there was a problem."

 

"What sort of problem?" Abigail asks. She dives under the lava for a moment, and when she re-emerges, the skin and hair seems to have returned to her head. She'd almost look normal, if it weren't for the spinal cord leading out from below her neck.

 

"You know how Stephanie was in critical condition? Aj kinda got torn up."

 

"How badly?" Abigail asks, rather concerned.

Myria retracts the wooden spikes from around Abigail's lava pool to make talking easier.

 

"Bad enough he had to return to the Shadow Realm for help."


"Are you at least going to make it at this rate?"
Ihra writes.

 

Abigail seems incredibly concerned, "Now I want skele-hugs..." She says, worried.

"Yeah, I've been through worse. Well, I guess this would make it into the top five, heh."

 

"Stephanie, Katie, can you give Abigail a 'skele-hug?' I'm trying to talk with Aj."


"If you didn't go into a Shadow Crystal, it can't be as bad as when we first met." She writes.

 

"I shall see what I can do. Take me to him." I assert.

 

"If you insist..."
The person signals you to follow them to the (slightly) largest house in the community.

 

Katie remains underwater in the hot spring.

Stephanie floats over to Abigail and hugs her.

"What if I told you I'm currently in a shadow crystal, and this is the only way of communication."

 

"Then I'd ask 'so we just wait for you to recover,' which I just did."

 

"Yup"

"I miss giving Aj skele-hugs..." Abigail laments.

"He's not dead. I'm sure Aj will be back soon." Stephanie says.

"It's still not the saaaaaame!" Abigail says, hugging Stephanie tighter.

 

"He's not dead, but he's in a shadow crystal."

"Well, hang in there. I'm sure Shadow Stephanie will find a way to chew you out more than I when you recover."
