"She has the ability to shapeshift. If someone absorbs her soul, they can shapeshift too. Those money or power hungry seek them, and I've been jumped more than once because someone wanted her."


"Fair point. Seems her and Aj are talking, want to wait for them to get closer or meet them in the middle?"

"A-ah, you're her servant... Please don't sell me out, I simply can't agree with her the way she is. I'm sorry, but... she was just so much more respectable before she was cursed."

 

"I'm not her servant. I'm strictly neutral."

 

"Pssh, I can shapeshift. I just don't really do it because I'm already awesome," I say, turning my free hand into an axe to prove my point, "Maybe I could pretend to be Avis if someone were to come after her, so when they try and capture me, BAM! Decapitated."


"We should probably wait for them to come here. It seems a little rude to interrupt." Artemis says.

 

"Oh? Sorry... I didn't know."

Avis skitters down to Xephyr's tail at the sight of your axe.
"So, uh... is Ihra okay? Things went sour where I was; I don't know or care how long I've been running."

"Oh. What's your name? I introduced myself..."

 

I turn my hand back to normal, "Yeah, she's fine apart from a few mental scars," I say, placing my hand on Xephyr's shoulder, "Let's go see her."

Everything goes black for Xephyr, Avis and I, and we appear in front of Artemis, Myria and Ihra.

"Oh, hey, uh, sorry about firing at you, Xephyr. I didn't know it was you." Artemis says as she sees Xephyr.

"I feel like there's some kind of conspiracy to uncover my name. Just call me whatever you want."

 

Avis shrieks, but calms down as Xephyr puts her on her shoulder and pets her, offering a quickly eaten ice shard.

"It's okay."

"Xephyr, what happened?"
"It... it was bad. Something rose out of the ground, and Vei took it out along with herself. Avis and I were in a cave nearby, and we just kept running from the cataclysm."
"I'm sorry..."
"I'm still alive, aren't I? Heh... I was hoping Master Eras was with you. Seen him recently?"

Xephyr teleports with Aj.

 

"Eras is in the realm of shadows at the shadow palace. Shadow Stephanie said she'd bring him back when she saw him." I say.

"You sound like you've had quite the experience. My apologies for attempting to kill you, I was only trying to protect my daughter and her friends." Myria apologises.

 

I fly over to where Xephyr is.

"Yes, I have a name, but I'd like to keep it secret for reasons."

 

"Oh... alright. Will he be coming back around here?"

"No, I'm sorry for scaring you. I could've at least given my name at the start."

"So... no preference on what you're called?"

 

"Mostly"

 

"He should be, so I guess we have to wait around here until he gets back." I say.

"Well, my name's Myria. I'm Artemis' mother." Myria says, offering a handshake.

 

"Don't expect anything from me...
...Sorry. I'm just not creative."

"Alright, thanks."

Xephyr accepts the handshake.
"Nice to meet you!"

When a slight breeze passes, it's obvious the air is colder than it was.
"Xephyr, could you maybe freeze us out a little less?"
"Sorry, but Avis likes it and I'm in pain in heat. You know how Cyros are."
"Right. It's just been a while."

 

Katie forms an icy pool next to Xephyr. It's almost frozen over, but still liquid.

"Maybe that will help?" Katie asks, smiling.

"You're sort of the opposite of Abigail, I guess." I say, glancing at Abigail. She continues to read the generator.

 

"Alright, not creative." I joke.

 

The pool freezes as Xephyr taps the tip of her tail on the surface.
"Thanks for the offer, but the water would freeze around me."
Avis seems appreciative of the pool, though. She jumps off Xephyr's shoulder, glides down, and starts gnawing at the ice.

"Abigail was your fire guardian friend, if I remember correctly?"

Katie smiles at Avis.

"Yeah, she's working on making new blades for this robot called Iruk." I say.

 

"Alright, Xephyr." I reply, holding back from the obvious free joke.
