Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I don't think I'll be able to."
I say, sheathing my sword.
"Of course he doesn't."
I sigh, walking over to the collapsed robot.

 

"By the name of the gods, what is with my luck?!" I shout, clearly frustrated. I attempt to steal an ability from Emily.

 

A tracker of sorts pops off from between where his wings would be. All that's left of them are frames.
His entire body is made of metals that have skin or scale-like texture, with relatively few visible joints.

"Thief..." The healer mutters.

You steal a psychic shock, and not a useable one.
"Not funny, recruit." She yells at you telepathically.

 

"Alright. Let's get you a new life."
I say, as if that would help anything.
I pick up the limp body, slinging it over my shoulder.
I start hovering back to where Reed and Ragnyon are.

"You're back. Did you find Stephanie?"
"Where'd you get that kill-bot, Thirteen?"

 

"No, I didn't find her, unfortunately. But this guy found me. I was his target, courtesy of the Hive Master. By the way, do either of you recognize the name Iruk'ne? He told me to remember it."
I gently lay him on the ground, and roll my shoulders.

 

I shrug and attempt to steal an ability from another random draconian. "Say, have you ever been a murderous flower bent on revenge?" I ask the healer.

 

"Sounds like a password."
"I hope she's alright..."

"No, nor do I wish to be."
You steal a blink.

 

"I'm sure she can take good care of herself. But what makes you think Iruk'ne is a password?"

 

"That's one of not too many words in our language that can be expressed in writing as one word."

 

"Well, it's an interesting experience, to say the least."

 

"That'll do it."
Pause.
"Just, remember that, in case something happens."

 

"I don't doubt that..."

"Iruk'ne. Yeah, no problem."

 

"Thank you."
Pause.
"So, any sign of AJ or the others?"

 

"I felt a telepathic distress call from Ihra, but someone responded to it and it stopped. None yet, but they're bound to be back soon."
"Maybe we can look into reviving the robot."
"The hell would you revive a killbot?"

 

"He seemed like he didn't really want that life. He spared me because of so, I think. He even asked if I knew any mechanics that could make him not a killing machine. That's what I intend to do. Not that I know anything about mechanics, but someone might."
Pause.
"And he had no reason to lie, unless when a 'killbot' loses all it's blades it doesn't actually shut down. If he wanted to kill me, he lost his chance. I'll fix him, now. Or I'll get someone to."

 

"No, if he did that, he had no reason to lie. Here, let me make this easy on you; that tracker that should be on his wings keeps him under tabs of the Hive Master. When he shuts down, that deactivates and self-destructs so he can't be traced. If you can find some of his blades, just screw them back into his wings and he'll start up and require a password. The one he gave us probably lets him retain the memories he has. Get enough blades on him and he can fly."
"Why do you know this?"
"Simple - one went after me. I... had some fun with him after disarming him."

 

"Awesome. I at least kept one blade."
I pull put the blade I stashed.
I crouch down, and prop him up, looking at his back.
"So, I just put the blade in one of the wing slots?"

 

"Yeah, they're made to be easy like that. Not sure why. You'll need ten blades if you want your ex-killbot to fly."
"Would you stop calling him that?"
"Not until I see for myself he isn't one."

 

"I'm sure he knows how to walk. He'll be fine. I don't have any more anyways, but I could always get more from where we fought."
I choose the lower-most slot of the left wing, and slip the blade into it.
I keep prop-ing him up, and wait.
