Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"No, I'll bring it!" I shout back. I pick up the rations and go to Opal. "I also found this. Seems like whoever owned this food may have wielded this weapon or been killed by it."

 

The guard is killed almost instantly. A small photo falls down, knocked loose from the guard as he was killed.

A smiling woman and child, both Shadows, are in the picture. Probaby the guard's wife and son.

A few more of the tougher looking guards run over to where the guard was killed. Their armour reflects the twilight of the palace; it looks like it'll take a bit more to take them down.

 

"Good find. Is the water still good?"

"So, you think you can protect her?" A voice echoes faintly.

 

The guards remain silent, their eyes glowing. They look on multiple layers of reality for the being echoing the voice.

 

Something's clouding Ihra on another plane.
"Wake up."

 

One of the guards nods to the others, before running back to Ihra's bedroom.

He bursts through the door, running over to Ihra.

 

She's peacefully asleep, vines surrounding the crystal and one claw laying on the lid of her honey jar.

 

The guard checks the layer of reality clouding Ihra, keeping an eye out for the voice; should it attempt to harm Ihra.

 

On that layer, a clouded version of Ihra, laying in the same place, is holding a crossbow.
Aimed directly at the guard.
A bolt of light barely fails to penetrate their armor.

 

The guard focuses, shifting himself onto the layer of reality with the faux-Ihra.

He holds his sword above faux-Ihra, striking down onto her chest; the real Ihra unharmed by the blade.

 

The fake Ihra dispels, but the note on the floor outside changes;
"I won't be nice next time"

 

One of the guards outside picks up the note, reading it, before shaking his head.

The guard leaves Ihra's bedroom, returning to the normal layer of reality and closing the door behind him.

"The king didn't mention this girl was such a troublemaker. We lost a good man tonight." A guard says, holding up the dropped picture.

One of the guards disables the alarm.

"She'll be gone come morning. I don't want to be the one to mention the news to his wife and child." The other guard says.

 

"My name isn't Ihra," the note reads before disintegrating.

 

"Fought worse outside these walls." The guard says, throwing away the dusty remains of the note.

The guards return to their duties, the less-armoured guards changing place with the stronger ones.

OOC: Let's do the time warp again.

A dark sun rises over the palace, its lighter rays giving greater sight to the land around. As the morning grows, the streets soon become bustled. Shadows fill the streets, not an empty space to be found.

The guards remain in position, awaiting their guests awakening.

 

Ihra yawns and stretches, vines disintegrating as she gets out of bed.
"That was a nice nap." She mutters, getting up and moving to open the door, staff in hand.

...she struggles with the handle, grunting as she tries to keep it turned all the way in order to pull it open.

 

"I don't know." I reply. "We don't have to drink it. We could go south to the Anole Lake. It's freshwater. It's your choice."

 

"That sounds safer."
He walks closer to the caravan, trying to get in the shade.
"Not used to the heat..."

 

The guard opens the door for her.

"Good morning, miss Ihra. You caused quite the commotion last night; I hope you're alright," The guard says, "I suggest you go to the dining hall for breakfast."
