Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"That's because using large, two handed weapons aren't my thing."

 

"Which is why that you should go back to your other blade now that you're used to something heavier."

 

"Alright." I return the broadsword to the weapon cache and pick up my own. I take Sedalia steps back. I then charge at the dummy, jumping up, spinning and slashing at it.
OOC: If it has a head, he's attempting to decapitate it.

 

It doesn't, but you make it all the way through.
"Try to avoid spinning in combat."

 

"It's just been a while since I did that, so I figured I'd try it out." I thrust my sword into the dummy.

 

I continue walking westward.

 

You use an awful lot of strength for a jab. It takes a while to get your blade out.
"Okay... I was hoping you already knew how to hold back."

It's pretty uneventful.
There's a broken caravan and slain horses laying on the ground next to it. There are arrows stuck in the ground suggesting they were fired from a dune nearby.

 

I check to see if the bandits left anything behind. "Watch my back." I say to Opal.

 

I exhale from the impact, and lose my breath.
I breathe in again, and try looking at the attacker, while trying to slow the decent towards the ground.

 

"I do. It's just that this is the first time I've trained since forever, let alone use my original body." I take a swing at the dummy.

 

Idala continues sleeping.

Meanwhile, in my room, I wake up.
"Uhh... that was the worst decision I've made for a few million years..."
I look around my room.

"Oh, okay. How have you found this world?"
---
"Me too."
Anna seems to stir slightly.
---
"Ah, I see how it works. Does it happen for only this copy or all books with this story? I don't want to annoy you by reading it in a different language."

 

The guard manages to right himself before sliding across the ground, drawing his crossbow. He fires a bolt at a red crystal down the hallway at a dark red crystal, shattering it. Upon being shattered, bells start ringing; their sound heard through out the palace.

The sound of wolves howling can be heard just outside the palace walls, and large, well armoured guards carrying broadswords start appearing and checking the rooms.

"Who the hell are you!?" The guard writes hastily.

You're lying in a lush, four poster bed. There's a slight glow to your left, and its just visible as a fireplace with a few coals in it; burning lightly and warming the room. To your right, there's a silhouette of a doorway. It looks like there's a sign of sorts on it, but it's impossible to read in the darkness. There are two pairs of curtains either side of your bed, and the sound of bells can be heard just outside the windows they cover.

A guard opens your door, a serious expression on his face. Noticing you awake, he asks "Are you alright, mister Eras?"

 

"As alright as I can be while having had a bottle of pure alcohol. What are the bells for?"

 

"That's the alarm. I believe we have an intruder, but don't worry; we'll remove them as fast as possible. Go back to sleep, there's nothing for you to worry about." The guard says, before closing the door.

It's a little unnerving to know such a secure place has an intruder.

 

"Ugh... I would stay awake if it wasn't for-"
... the fact that I really need a sleep.

 

The sound of the bells soon fades away as you slip back into unconsciousness, only aided by the incredibly soft bed.

 

"Got it."

There's scraps of food that are still good, and a few cantines left in a corner. There's a bloodstained dagger, but that's all that's left.

Their clothing is too dark to see this time of night, but they seem unarmed, hold claws.
They try to cut at your arms, but they're too busy trying to drive you into the ground to land a serious cut.

Clean cut.
"Well, you don't need that much force on a jab, lest you want a dramatic last kiss or something ridiculous like that."

"Ihra just brought me here."

Reed's spectral form fades, and he approaches in his normal body.
"Great. Hopefully Eras will return to meet her."
-----
"Only that copy. Thanks for your concern."

"Turn around."

 

The guard readies his sword and turns around, ready to face whatever threat lurks behind him.

 

"Hmm." I say to myself. I inspect the dagger closely. "Opal, I have some food and some water canteens!" I call out, still looking at the weapon.

 

He turns to a bolt of pure light magic to the face.
(If he has a shadow crystal, that's cut in half with a light dagger)
"Should've sent help."
The note reads face-up on the ground.

The dagger is a simple iron dagger with a slightly serrated edge.
"Should I go over?" He shouts back.
