Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"He's free to leave when he wishes, I have no control over him. I haven't bound him to the bracelet I'm wearing, so his power isn't being siphoned." Stephanie says, smiling.

"I don't see much point in being mean to people, especially if I have no reason to. Heck, being mean to you after what you've been through would be much worse." I respond.

Stephanie coughs a bit, waving the smoke out of the way.

"Hey! Watch where you throw your smoke bombs!" Stephanie shouts.

Stephanie seems rather intimidated, and Shadow Katana mysteriously appears in her hand, her arm as black as midnight; the bracelet she wears darkening the area around her.

"H-Hey! St-Stay back!" Stephanie shouts nervously, backing up against the tree behind her, her eyes wide with fear. Despite her obvious terror, she holds Shadow Katana ready, oddly.

 

"That's harsh. So, you can't stop it from hunting you?"

"It's fine, at least it makes sense! Unlike half of what Ihra says..."

"Then why isn't he?"

"True, but it'd be justified."

 

"I'm...not sure." Stephanie says, looking at Shadow Katana; puzzled.

"How so? I heard you were stuck to a machine for a good portion of your life, and you wanted help. You've made me shurikens and improved Abigail's claws and gauntlets, and have been awfully nice; despite a few...incidents. Which I can forgive!" I respond happily.

 

"Is he trying to posess you?"

"A few incidents. That can recur if I lose myself. I lose my kindness when overloaded; I get desperate. If it comes to the worse case scenario... I've blasted Xlentia before."

 

"I...I don't know." Stephanie says, worried.

"Well...I might need to take on a lesser-used form if you're planning on blasting me. Just something to calm your mind, but size doesn't especially mean power. I might be ten times my size in one form; but another, more powerful form, is simply around two to three times it." I respond.

 

"Hunting isn't the right word. Since it's already inside me, it can attempt to control me any time it wants. If it doesn't gain full control quickly, I can take a potion very quickly to repel it for a while."

"Why, what sort of things does she say? I haven't heard her speak because she hasn't tried eating a Speech Flower."

"Sort of. She can do what she wants, but we don't want her to try to escape or fight us. From what Eras says, she is valuable."

"Now this is interesting... a shame it's burnt."
Arnold looks around for a librarian draconian (if I remember, Ruby was the head librarian and not the only librarian).

 

"What's he trying to do?"

"I sensed you could withstand it, but then Myria would be at my throat again... I'd be as good as dead."

"That's... I'm so sorry."

"She just swithes topics too much. I don't know how she expects anyone to understand her."

"Eras? What do you mean by that?"

There's a few at the counter, then there are a few draconians roaming around.

Guess you may as well just try asking the nearest draconian...?

 

"I'm...not sure. Protecting me?" Stephanie says, confused.

"I'm sure she could be convinced not to harm you. I think the reason she wanted to kill you is because you harmed me, which distressed Artemis and therefore Myria even more. She has an awful lot of care for not only her daughter, but her daughter's friends too. As any good mother would."

 

"Is there someone dangerous nearby?"

"Fair point. I hope it doesn't come to that, overloading hurts. A lot."

 

Stephanie gestures to Drake in his dragon form, standing near to her. Stephanie bears a panicked expression.

"Maybe you could focus on blacksmithing, then, since it drains some of your power so you don't get overloaded." I suggest.

 

I say, "Yes, talk to your officer, but please hurry! My tribe could still be saved!"

 

"I don't think he's a threat."

"I can't smith when overloaded."

"Your savages could still be saved, oh boy. Yes, let me walk even slower for you!"

His pace slows.

 

As he turns his back, I flip him off and wait for his Captain to arrive.

 

Stephanie still seems terrified, "I...I don't trust him!" Stephanie says nervously.

"I meant you could smith beforehand, so you don't get overloaded." I respond.

Stephanie shakes in your presence, Shadow Katana still held ready.

 

The guard that's staying near you puts his spear to your horse's neck.
"Go even slower!" He shouts back at him.

"None of us do, I think."

"Yeah, I try."

 

Stephanie seems too petrified to respond.

"Didn't that machine balance it out?" I respond, "Maybe we could create something akin to that to help you."

 

"Stephanie? It's okay..."

"It drained my energy and measured the generation level. The thing is, it was the size of a house. Kind of impractical to tote around."

 

A few tears roll down Stephanie's fear-stricken face; she's too petrified to even move.

"Hmm, I guess dragging a house around isn't the easiest thing to do. Other than you becoming the greatest blacksmith in the universe or you going psycho and blasting me, I can't really see of any ways to solve this problem."

 

"Stephanie."
Ihra nudges her.

"Yeah. That's the problem. Wecome to my life."

 

Stephanie doesn't move. The terror seems to have got to her; her breathing incredibly fast.

"Again, I feel so sorry for you. I don't think anyone, especially you, deserves such a burden." I respond.
