I eye Abigail suspiciously before saying,
"Yeah, she ended up crying, so everything went well."
Pause.
"I'm joking. She did cry, but that's not the reason it went well."
Another pause.
"I did not kiss her. For the record."

 

Melt around the edge? Cut off the edge of I must.

"You know what? Have fun with this."

The ground starts to shake, cracking and rising up.

 

"Oh, why was she crying? Did you offend her more!?" Abigail asks, trying to change the subject from her slip of the tongue.

 

"No, it's just an emotional experience for her. I'm not sure what it was, but she felt something. She wants to be left alone for a bit, now."

 

"She has kept quite a few secrets. All I know is she ran away from home when she was younger; maybe you triggered something with what you said." Abigail says, looking towards Stephanie in the distance.

"That, or I'm thinking into it too much and you just bluntly offended her." Abigail says.

 

"Like I said, I'm not sure, but you can ask her right after she's done doing what she needs to do."

 

"I don't think prying into people's emotional problems is the wisest idea, Thirteen." Abigail says, eyeing you.

Abigail summons a fireball in her hand, which she throws and catches.

 

"I'm not trying to. I'm saying that if you really want to know, then you try, because I have no idea."

 

"This... heh... I wish I was unconscious for this... Urgh..."

"Thanks."

Your soldiers already seem prepared. They must've been waiting for your word.

You cut off the edge, and the new "edge" begins to soften.

"As I said before, I don't think I should pry. If she wants to tell us, she'll tell us; I'm not going to force her," Abigail replies, "I'm sure it's a sensitive topic for her."

"I can make that happen." Myria says, focusing a little harder.

Ruby falls asleep; yet I keep her standing.

"Thank you, Aj," Myria says, "Had she fallen, she may have lost quite a bit of blood."

Artemis focuses on transmuting blood, increasing the rate of transfer; Katie makes sure the water doesn't drain, though it doesn't seem to be draining too much.

 

"Alright. Thoroughly noted."

 

"Just...try not to offend anyone else." Abigail says; her fireball turning blue.

Abigail throws her fireball up high, yet manages to catch it again.

 

"The person behind you. They look like they're related to you."

"Is it almost done?" Ihra asks, maintaining a barrier around the group.

 

"Yes, I've tried my best to make the process as fast as possible for her. Artemis has helped a great deal." Myria says, looking at Artemis with a smile.

"Thanks, mother. I don't think I could have done this on my own." Artemis replies, smiling.


A short while later, Myria finally removes her hand from Ruby's chest, a small wound is barely visible for a second before it closes.

"Well, that was quite the task. Your friend's blood has been restored." Myria says happily.

I appear next to Ruby as Myria clicks her fingers; forcing Ruby back to consciousness.

"I feel...exhausted..." Artemis says through heavy breaths.

"We saved her!" Katie says happily.

 

I walk over, smiling, but curious.
"Who's that? I never caught her name, I don't think."

 

"Ah, the ground..."
She levitates, her claws seem to chemically react with the dirt.
"I feel... Alive. Thank you."
"No problem! But... What will you do now?"
"Your friends didn't mind an oracle. I was hoping I could help liberate my beloved mistress. I can hold my own, I assure you."

"I am Ruby. You are quite the interesting construct."

 

"That's interesting word to use, but I guess so."
I slightly shake my head.
"Well, nice to meet you, Ruby."

 

"I know the one that you find unpreferable."

"Robot." She says telepathically.

 

"That's Ruby." Artemis says. She looks exhausted.

"I don't believe we've met. I'm Myria, Artemis' mother." Myria says, smiling at you and offering a handshake.

"So...you're going back there? With Xlentia?" I ask.
