Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, um, a spirit told me to grow it. I can only think it's a healing flower of sorts." Artemis says.

"She essentially recieved anonymous instruction from a spirit to perform necromancy in order to 'Bring it new life'," I say, "We don't know who the spirit was, so we're just waiting for this to bloom to see if they're hostile."

 

"Hmm...is there anything else that the spirit said? Were you able to see the spirit's physical form? Were you even able to see the spirit? How was the instruction delivered to you? Was the instruction delivered through telepathic link?" It seems the great barrage of questions has arrived.

 

The tendril just goes straight for Abigail.

One of the tendrils looks at the ritual curiously.

And another one appears.

"Yes, I do remember you... but... I didn't know..."
He sighs.
"I guess I still don't understand fully what I did."

"Well, if I ever find blood which could help her, I'll bring it to her at once."

Note: Some maps aren't on the first post, like the maps of Aurorius and the Darklands.

 

Ihra roots herself and absorbs a charge, trying to counteract the drain.

And another one is smitten.

"Your forces almost massacred our village preemptively. We have never been armed; my sisters and I were born to protect the innocent from you!"
Rina's clearly bitter.
"Never has anyone come so close to destroying the only thing barring our home from the chaos of the outside world. I won't let you take my home without taking me!"
She's hesitant to raise her lance; fear is in her eyes, but she's determined to get her point across.

"Thank you, Arnold. I... I sent a help message to Ihra in a dream. If she and her friends come, I ask you hold off from engaging until they leave. I promised Ruby a future; if I am to be a deity, I do need to remain respectable."

 

"I think it said it knew me in its life, or at least knew of me; I never saw the spirit, just heard it; it spoke to me; No." Artemis responds in order.

"A lot of people know of you, Artemis," I say, smiling, "How could they not know of the most amazing girl in the entire world?"

Artemis blushes, hugging me.

"We need Abigail to stop you two from being so soppy." Stephanie comments.

Abigail feebly tries to slice the tendril, but ends up getting grabbed by it.

"Abigail!" Katie shouts, readying her trident.

"Run, Katie, Run!" Abigail shouts.

Katie runs for her pool.

The flower seems to be drawing quite a lot of life from the ground, and the grass around the flower has started to turn to dust. The flower seems to have gained a glowing green aura, which grows with the flower.

Artemis grows eight large trees around the flower, which start to wither away.

"They said I should do this; and expect such a result." Artemis says.

 

She tries harder, turning slightly pale after a bit.

 

"I can do that, but I don't want to lest I risk declaration of war." I suddenly realize that Abigail and Katie aren't here. "Wait, where are Abigail and Katie anyways?"

 

"Ihra, don't overdo yourself," I say, concerned, "I'm sure when this spirit arrives, the flower will give back excess life."

A wooden cup of nature elixir is held in a wooden hand next to Ihra, Artemis mimicking the pose with her own hand.

I summon a cup of water and start sipping it, like I was standing by a device or object that could provide such water at a lowered temperature.

"You see the big game last night?" I ask Stephanie casually.

"What?" Stephanie asks, confused.

The flower seems to have grown to about twice its size, and the aura is plainly visible.

"Underground, hiding from these tentacles." Stephanie says.

"Tendrils," I correct, "Was that a freudian slip I heard?"

 

Ihra uproots herself, steps back cautiously, and takes a small sip of the nature elixir.

Sgavrinn backs up further, scared.

 

Another one starts going towards Virei'tus but it seems that it decides to give up.

"I... I don't expect to be forgiven after what I did. Eras showed me how your kingdom goes about normal life... I can't believe I did that."
---
"Very well. I won't try to stop them or harm them at all."

The tendril doesn't really grab Abigail, it just partially surrounds her.
It examines her and then disappears.

 

I remain silent, but watch the flower intently. "You know, I'm getting a really bad vibe off of this. A spirit just contacted you to essentially use dark magic to ressurect a person who's dead. And besides, if they are truly dead, then there's a reason they're dead. If it's some kind of criminal, good riddance. If it's some kind of hero, well, it's probably part of said hero's legend." I fly off, though it's obvious I'm watching the flower from the sky.

 

The elixir tastes like fresh apples.

Artemis walks over to and pets Sgavrinn, "Don't worry, I'm sure Aj can keep us safe." Artemis says reassuringly.

"Oh...that wasn't bad." Abigail says.

"Katie, they're not hostile!" Abigail shouts.

"N-Now I'm really scared," Artemis says, hugging me, "I-I think I might have messed up."

 

"Hold," he shouts at it.
"What do you seek?"

Kai roars from below, Aria standing on her head, waving.
"That's convenient, because I didn't intend to. If you could have provided a reason for doing so, I may be lighter on you, but the pain you caused us all... I will never forgive it."

"You have my thanks. For non-dragonbloods, you and Helianthus are formidable."

"Thanks, master!"
He nuzzles her. Ragnyon smiles.


"Well, worst case scenario, we fight them. Best case scenario, we have another friend!"

 

"Of course, this could actually be someone in need. So..." I shout.

 

Artemis smiles back.


"I hope in the worst case scenario, Aj can fight them..." Artemis says nervously.

The flower starts pulsing twice as fast, compressing slightly. It stops draining life from the ground, and it looks like its ready to bloom. The aura grows stronger and brighter.

"It could be; if they knew Artemis, it'd make sense they'd come for help." I say, shielding my eyes from the light.

 

"Well, looks like you're about to find out!"

 

The light seems to start to obscure us; a dome forming. You can just about see the flower start to crack open.

 

Pretty much all tendrils just disappear back into the aura.

The tendrils go back into the aura.
It seems that they aren't able to communicate.

"I understand."
He looks in the direction of the Lost Kingdom.
"So it took the destruction of my own kingdom to see what I had done wrong... how fitting..."

"Thank you, Mistress Xlentia. Do you require anything else from me?"

 

"H-h-hey! Are you guys still alive?!"

 

Abigail and Katie dive into their respective river and pool swimming back to the surface.

"Y-Yeah, I think it's opening!" You can hear Artemis shout.
