Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, that's why we asked if we got to choose who was going to leave." The stronger demon says, shrugging.

 

“Now that I understand what you were referring to, you may choose amongst yourselves who will be sent back today. Do not choose amongst the guardians, they may do the same amongst themselves.” Silver sighs. “If any of you start fighting, I’ll have to force my hand. So don’t.”

 

The guardians seem to share looks of sympathy, while the demons seem to start forming groups and begin conspiring.

 

Silver sighs, before using his body to separate the guardians and demons.
"Are they always like this?" He asks the guardians telepathically, exasperated.

 

"They come from hell. I don't know what it's like there, but I assume it's a lot less lawful and kind than Lady Gaia's Gardens." An earth guardian responds.

 

“If that’s the language they speak, then I suppose I may weed them out in kind.” He responds telepathically, before summoning a stone with a sentence etched in it.

“Okay, while you’re in the middle of that, I need you all to read what’s on the tablet.” Silver tells the demons.
Any of the higher class demons are quick to notice that the stone says “Anyone who reads this aloud will be sent back.” written in common.

 

The demons read the tablet, none of them vocally. A few of the demons - presumably blind or with bad sight - try to feel out the words; though nobody explains what it actually reads to them.

"Hey, I've seen this before!" One of the demons says after reading it over, before heading over to the stone and trying to etch the word "overthinking" into it.

 

Silver picks up the stone before the demon can etch anything into it.
“Okay, next one.” He says, immediately replacing it.

This one says “If you can read this, reach out to me telepathically,” also in common.

 

Silver feels quite a few telepathic connections open, though a large majority of the demons don't contact him.

"What if we don't have telepathic powers?" A slime demon asks.

"Yeah, some of us don't have those psychic abilities." An imp says.

"It's not something easily learned, especially if you lack the proper mind for it." A brutish demon explains.

 

Silver points to the three demons who spoke up, along with those who linked with him.
“You lot may not be sent home immediately, along with the handful of you who were reading on the flight.” He says, blunt. “The rest of you, keep arguing. If you are blind or hard of seeing, step up and let me know so I can examine you in a fair manner.”

 

A large group of bat-like demons step up, alongside a variety of other demons; some wearing glasses, others missing eyes. Many other demons step up with those that aren't able to see well, seeming to act as helpers.

A small conflict breaks out as demons try to take each others books to prove they can read.

 

Silver uses hardlight to isolate attempted book-thieves.
"You lot get to go home." He says, stern, before signaling the blind demons and their helpers to step off to the side.

 

"Hey, we can read!" One of the demons protests.

"I was just trying to get my book back!" Another demon protests.

The helpers lead the blind demons to the side, guiding them carefully. One of the bat-like demons seems to panic a little as they lose their footing slightly, letting out a high-pitch screech to view their surroundings better.

 

Silver telekinetically returns each swiped book to its proper owner before glaring at the imprisoned crowd. He then summons a stone tablet with another etching in it, reading (once again in common): "Speak aloud at my count of three; 'Deception will not be tolerated.' Speak before or after, and you will be sent home."

"One... two... three..." Silver counts, after about fifteen seconds of making sure every demon imprisoned can see the tablet clearly.

 

A few of the books actually return to those imprisoned; the book thieves being the original owners themselves.

All of the demons speak up on the count of three, though most unsure what to say.

"What are we meant to say?" A few demons ask, while a few others simply say what their name is.

 

Silver releases any who said "Deception will not be tolerated," and sighs at the rest of them before turning to the group he released earlier.
"My method of narrowing down who should be sent home seems to be taking about as long as yours. How many of those still held in hardlight are known to be uncivil?" He asks.

 

The group looks over the demons in the cell, before pointing out a few choice individuals who seem rowdier than the rest.

"The others are alright." One of the demons says.


On the guardian side of things, they too appear to have organised themselves into groups. Unlike the demons, however, they appear to be acting much more civil. A few guardians read books aloud to others, some seem to be in a competitive card game - those that win moving on to fight other winners, and the same for the losers for a presumably lesser position - and others seem to be involved in a game that requires a lot of dice rolling; occasional bouts of laughter and jokes coming from them. A group of water guardians seem to have created an ice pool to hang out in while Silver deals with the demons, many remaining under the water and socialising just as well as those out of the water.

 

Silver releases those not pointed out.
"Look on the bright side..." He says to those still held in hardlight. "You won't get to torture everyone you see here. You'll be able to do that at home."
He then turns to the rest of the demons.
"At that, if torture is the only thing you want to be doing, pack up. We don't need more interrogators." He says, stern.

He also links with the already released group telepathically.
"I wasn't intending to put the blind ones through too much more. Are there any known problems there, or are they all capable of not destroying everything they touch?"


A water sprite leaps from a fountain into the guardians' pool, curious.

 

I've only read bits and pieces of this at a time so its really hard to find a full story here so Imma try to read this whole thread. See you all in 2 years!

 

"The blind ones are safe, they're not destructive; just a little loud at times." A demon responds.


The pool is freezing cold, the outside being made of an ice that doesn't seem to melt on it's own. Many of the water guardians welcome the sprite, however.
