"Interesting. Somewhat like Tenebrae's children's ability to possess others?" Temporus asks.

 

"Yes, except engineered specifically to accommodate chronomancers. Never touch anything other than the pin and its sheath, though. You've already destroyed it once, so you know what happens."
Pause.
"This is in part to make up for the metals the other reality theoretically owes you. You know well they can't afford to spare much of anything right now. Besides, the armor was only cut along the seams. Touching it up would be a trivial matter."

 

"Fixing the broken armour wouldn't be an inconvenience, smithing is quite an enjoyable activity. The lack of respect for what I craft is what irks me. However I have since put that behind me," Temporus says, "It will take time away from young Stephanie's training, however."

 

"There was no disrespect for your work, only Praecantatia's instinct. Silver has spent a great deal of his idle time studying it since I wouldn't let him come into this reality, if it makes you feel any better." Golden says, her tone lightening. "Though, I suppose me relaying how my counterpart felt is nothing compared to hearing it from her own mouth... should she get out of her current mess alive."

 

"It wasn't something I expected to happen at all, though only being able to see the ins and outs of Gaia and Praecantatia, it was certainly hard to predict." Temporus says,

 

"You knew Xlentia'd wake up in a fit, though. You could've at least warned them about that."

 

"I told Praecantatia to be cautious. Xlentia is a loose cannon, it's harder to predict how she'll act on a moment to moment basis." Temporus shrugs.

 

"I don't know whether to agree or be mildly insulted while agreeing." Golden snickers.

 

"Nonetheless, your presence stalled the progress of a possible rescue party," Temporus says, "Granted, they'd be making little progress anyway on many timelines, but it is still a delay."

 

"Sometimes one must take a step back to prepare for a leap forward." She says flatly.

 

"Perhaps so, but from this point onward I can only hope you share the attitude you share with me with at least the other gods." Temporus says, almost as if asking a favour.

 

Golden shakes her head.
"I'm afraid I cannot, for the sake of my people. Just as you wear a mask to protect your friends, so must I." She explains.
"I will not treat them as equals. They are far too young, as are you, and your situation is relatively anomalous. I am, however, willing to break character enough to speak common tongue to them and any children sent to me for reparations. If anyone speaks of this, though... you know well my intentions."

 

"That's all I ask for. Your language-related hubris would have only created a further divide between us, as I'm sure you'd be able to see," Temporus says, "A young age is seldom a restriction when you have already lived a million and more lives."

 

“I have never met a being of youth that proved to be any better than a well-reasoned mortal, chronomancers aside. All due respect, I have yet to see that trend break. Even here.”

 

Temporus remains silent, as if holding his tongue.

 

“As resolute as you are to holding your mask, you seem hypocritically against my hold on mine.” She says. “Neither is the other’s business, thus I will take my leave and hope you do not betray my trust. Do play around a bit with your camera on a string; it’s a wide interreality weave out there.”

 

"Very well, I shall experiment." Temporus says dismissively.

 

Temporus seems to have forgotten who The Golden Queen is a counterpart of and his mind defaults to assuming she's just Xlentia, though he still remembers how to use her gift.
"Do try not to drown, will you? Your friends are quite amusing, and I quite look forward to seeing them at a future council." She says, standing up to take her leave.

 

"I appreciate the tampering with my mind, I can only hope you'll spare the others such influence." Temporus says, seemingly aware of what happened; though the memories themselves still missing.

 

“I wasn’t sure if you were paying attention.” She says with a smirk, before leaving.
