"Ihra is a key part of your realities, but I don't believe she is the greater force that controls this. It's easy to see through a simple look into your reality that it is vastly different to ours. I believe yours follows a different path to ours," Temporus explains, "I doubt she'd find answers here, because there are no answers for her to find."

 

“She’s the first avatar of a higher being than us I’ve seen. They might not know specifics, but they’d be able to see the big picture. Patterns, maybe. Something. Sure, she might not be the source, but she’s closer than any of the rest of us.”

 

Temporus shrugs.

"As much as I may retain memories of what once was, it might be best to leave it behind. If I was made to forget, then whatever made me forget probably meant to for a reason." Temporus ponders.

 

“That still is a bit of a pitiful reason to trouble the avatar of the beings that made this twisted hell-loop-mess-tangle. Besides, the others may want an explanation. Or, at least something more than the panic of godhood kicking in...”

 

"The others don't need to know. It's enough of a burden as it is to remember; they only remember the time they've spent in this universe, nothing before it. They've accepted their places as gods, and they're happy," Temporus says, sounding a bit standoffish, "As the mortals say, ignorance is bliss."

 

Golden sighs.
"You cannot sustain taking care of your friends if you cannot sustain taking care of yourself. They care, Temporus. We both know you can't shoulder such a big burden alone forever." She says, her motherly tone reappearing. "You all jumped into this together, after all."

 

"That may be so, but that doesn't mean they have to know. It's best that it's forgotten." Temporus says.

 

"It can't be forgotten and you in particular know that better than the rest. They still remember the beginning, anyways. They still ask questions."

 

"Do you truly wish to know what were to happen if I were to tell them, then?" Temporus offers, "I'm sure your vision is as restricted as mine in your reality."

 

"It isn't, though you're welcome to show me what you wish. It's an absolute tangle from the outside."

 

Images flash through the golden queen's mind, only lasting a second, but leaving an impact like an hour. The world seems quiet, human life eroded with scavengers exploring ruined cities; a few with coloured hair seeming to be guardians of some sort. Then, an image of Gaia in the center of her gardens, a dark cloak with bones poking out below it beside her as Mortius' scythe pierces through Gaia's chest. Gaia remains suspended, body leaning back on the scythe, blood dried onto it as she gases upward with glazed eyes; twitching occasionally, as if stuck between life and death in eternal inescapable pain. Then, a similar scene with Praecantatia; laying on one of her islands staring skyward, doing nothing. Stephanie stands beside her, trying to move her or wake her from her state of existential stasis. Two images seem to overlap, the realm of light and shadow existing in a twilight as churches are torn down out of lack of hope and faith, a pair of realms abandoned by its gods. Finally, Caelia sobs at the bar of a quiet rave, a mass of empty glasses beside her as Temporus looks guilt ridden. Only one question escapes her lips, "Why?"

"That is why I keep the information of the greater existence around us hidden from them. Perhaps one of the worst doomed timelines of the splintered failures." Temporus explains.

 

"You do realize that what you just showed me falls squarely on this alpha, I hope?" Golden asks, seeming a bit suspicious.

 

"It's a possible branch wherein I inform everyone of everything I know." Temporus clarifies.

 

"Which isn't what I'm advising you do. Opening the flood gates willingly is just as bad as them breaking under pressure. It's too big of a burden to forever bear on your own."

 

"I give them small pieces, that's all they need." Temporus says, stern.

 

Golden smirks.
"Either of us lying is stupid. We're both gods of time. You keep them in the dark, you don't give them anything other than vague hints that they're being kept uninformed."

 

"I've shown you the dangers of them knowing, and I don't believe I'm supposed to know what I know; yet I do." Temporus says.

 

“If you insist on being stubborn, I can’t change you. Just know that it isn’t something you can bear alone forever.”

 

"Perhaps not forever, but long enough to keep the timeline stable." Temporus responds.

 

"Temporarily." Golden sighs. "Regardless, that device I gave you should help with your keyhole issue. Think of it like a camera attached to a string; there's a pin jamming it during its idle state, and removing that will activate it. Give the pin to someone you trust and you will be able to experience their sensory as if it was another of your bodies."
