Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“I-“ Ihra utters before the vines wrap around her mouth.
“...I do?” She asks Artemis telepathically, sounding confused. “Nobody told me earlier...”

 

Artemis tries to delicately remove the blade, while immediately healing the damage it leaves behind. The vines seem to numb Ihra's face, preventing her from feeling most of the pain of the dagger being removed.

 

It comes out fairly easily, in part due to the lack of a serrated edge.
“Thanks. Sorry for the scare.” Ihra says telepathically, still a bit confused.

 

Artemis discards the dagger, throwing it aside and removing the vines once Ihra is fully healed. Artemis then gives Ihra a hug.

"Don't let yourself get hurt like that again." Artemis says, concerned.

 

“Was it a deep cut?” She asks, hugging Artemis back but still confused.

 

"It was straight through your snout!" Artemis replies.

 

“I... didn’t even feel it.” Ihra says, still confused. “Thanks, though. Better to have it out.”

 

"Can't you feel anymore?" Artemis asks, concerned.

 

Ihra moves her hand along Artemis’ back again, before rubbing her snout.
“Yes, I can still feel things... I guess just not the dagger.”

 

Artemis sighs, hugging Ihra tighter.

"I'm just glad you're still here." Artemis says.

 

"I wish I wasn't the only one out of that group who can say that." She sighs, hugging Artemis a bit tighter in response.

 

Artemis sighs, eventually letting go.

"Thanks for coming. You didn't have to." Artemis says, smiling.

 

"I dunno how Emerald keeps track of so many things, I can barely focus on two at a time." Ihra says sheepishly, also letting go. "I don't mean to pick at old wounds, but... what happened? It's not like you to dwell on Myria, as much as we all miss her."

 

Artemis smile seems to drop as she looks away.

"We...went to go see Mary to collect some of her ruin. Something about it...even just being near to it when we collected it, it...it reminded me of mother. It was almost like she was there...I remembered everything father told me about her, and all the time we spent together before she...she..." Artemis says, trailing off as tears start to well in her eyes.

"She's...she's really gone. Part of me always felt like she was watching over me when I was growing up. It's what guided me to her and brought her back. Now I can't feel her presence anymore, and Gaia said that she couldn't find her at all," Artemis says, tears running down her face as she looks back to Ihra, "She's gone gone."

 

Ihra opens her mouth before stopping, instead shaking her head.
"She wasn't erased. She's not gone gone." She says. "I don't know when, but I'll get her out of Oblivion. Maybe after this is all over and I'm not needed everywhere at once, but I'll get her out. It's the least I could do to pay her back for everything."

 

A small amount of hope sparks in Artemis' eyes.

"Wh-What do you mean?" Artemis asks through tears, "What's O-Oblivion?"

 

"I think you call it null, sometimes. If the Void is the space between dimensions in a reality, then Oblivion is kinda like the space between realities. Erasure makes someone really gone, but people who just get pulled to Oblivion aren't all the way gone. They don't really exist, sure, but they're still there. If I'm really some daughter of a god that makes realities, then I'll be able to keep existing in Oblivion. Then I can look for her."

 

"Y-Your null doesn't erase things entirely?" Artemis asks, starting to cheer up a little as a new hope dawns within her, "Praecantatia told me that things sent to null here stop existing entirely. Th-they're beyond even her reach."

Ihra notices the plantlife around Artemis begins to grow much larger, and some parts begin to overgrow.

 

"Null disconnects things from being reached from reality, yes, but it doesn't erase them. Just because you cannot see something does not mean it is gone for good. Think of it like slipping a piece of paper under a rug. You can't see what's on the paper, and unless you move the rug you can't get the paper back. It doesn't mean that the paper just stops existing, it's just out of reach for you."

 

Artemis doesn't seem to follow, though seems to get better nonetheless.

"So, you're saying that...you could get Myria back? E-Even though she sacrificed herself to oblivion for you?" Artemis asks, more plants growing around her as she recovers.
