Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"As it should be." He nods. "I apologize for distracting you. If you know of anyone intending to cross the rift, please warn them to be respectful around the Queen - as hard as that may be..."

 

"Well, the king of this realm is due to be returning soon. I'll be sure to remind him to be respectful." Shadow Stephanie says, trying to not let her royal tone and elegant attitude drop.

 

Silver nods, before pausing.
"You really ought to rest. Regardless, I hope to hear from you or your gods soon... preferably before she takes matters into her own hands." He sighs, before bowing his head slightly and turning away from the rift.

 

"What do you mean by that?" Shadow Stephanie asks, concerned.

 

The Silver King looks back with a bit of a vain look.
"I've mentioned it already. The Queen seeks an eye for an eye. I see no ill will in yours, but she's been trying to convince me to let our forces mobilize for decades now."

 

"On what grounds?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

“These. A capital city for a capital city, a pet for a pet, three smaller towns for three smaller towns, and an entire continent of ash for an entire continent of ash.”
He hesitates, before standing tall and revealing a large gash in his chest behind his ornate armor.
“...Perhaps worst of all, one of his parents’ hearts for mine.”

 

"Haven't you ever heard the saying 'An eye for an eye leaves everybody blind'?" I ask, stepping out from the palace with my own personal guard, much to Shadow Stephanie's dismay.

"Aj, this isn't the time for this. This is serious political business." Shadow Stephanie says, letting her attitude drop for a moment.

"Oh, so you're going to let this guy here try and destroy our reality for something we didn't do?" I ask.

"No, I'm going to try and figure out what the hell happened here and fix it." Shadow Stephanie says, annoyed.

"Fix it how?" I ask, crossing my arms.

Shadow Stephanie screams in anger, frustrated, "I don't know, ok!? Maybe if you did your fair share of work here instead of dumping all of the responsibility on me so you can go play fucktimes with Artemis, we'd be able to avoid shit like this!" she shouts.

"You're right, I'm sorry." I apologise, seeming sincere.

"Don't you try and pull that fake apology on me." Shadow Stephanie says, though cracking a smile nonetheless.

"So let's try and figure this out. We're not letting you destroy our stuff, by the way." I say, turning back to the Silver King.

"Yeah that's not deal we're accepting." Shadow Stephanie says, royal presentation now completely dissolved.

 

“Have you ignored my words up until that point? I have no interest in letting harm befall any of you! She has been bent over this for a few centuries now, and I’m running out of ways to distract her from taking her perceived matters into her own hands.” The Silver King says, seeming dismayed. “I seek answers, just as you do. There’s been enough bloodshed.”

 

"So why are you chill about this and she isn't?" I ask, intrigued.

 

"The culprit was supposedly erased. Even if it wasn't by her hand, don't you think a parent being stripped of all memories of their child is retaliation enough?"

 

"Well, she and Lux did go and-" Shadow Stephanie begins to say, before I hurriedly cover her mouth to prevent her from saying anything more.

"Yes, I agree completely. Tenebrae was very hurt by what happened when she found out." I say, kicking Shadow Stephanie in the shin as a gesture.

 

"I know what they did. I can read." The Silver King says flatly, glaring at you. "She's sealed now, anyways. Why they ignored their chance to kill her is beyond me, but their actions are not mine to judge - only that of their child. Regardless, her sealing is why the Queen convinced me to step up. I knew it was a risk letting her get close to the rift, but I can't help from a distance as great as we had faced."

 

"Yeah we've got a plan to get Xlentia back, don't worry." I say, waving my hand dismissively.

 

"Anything better than run in directly and make a scene?" Silver asks, raising an eye.

 

"Not...technically." I say, sounding embarrassed.

"It was, wasn't it?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

"No, it was making a scene elsewhere to cause a distraction." I say, offended.

 

"I suppose that it fails to meet the criteria of charging headfirst into the front lines..." Silver sighs.

 

"Distractions and stealth are what we're known for." I say proudly.

"We have been struggling to make progress in the war, however." Shadow Stephanie admits.

 

"That's a very good idea. That would've ruined your chances of surviving on the spot."

 

"She's a bit showy for a goddess, but this absolutely made the trip worth it."

"You'll struggle to do much simpler tasks if The Queen has her way. You can't get through this reality's palace without crossing her, either. I have two suggestions - one, get a translator since she looks down upon those who use common tongue; preferably one who knows both Dacori and Ancient Dacori. Two, do not go in while I am in sight. You'll need me to get her sidetracked, lest you want to test your mettle against a goddess of destruction who seeks yours. If you come in during my presence, she won't believe me when I say you're from this side of the rift." The Silver King advises. "Of course, you're free to ignore my warning - but you gamble with more lives than just your own if you do."
