Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Ihra waves at it a bit more, slowly getting closer.


“At least this dice roll is much less likely to get me killed...” Scurn mumbles.

 

Once Ihra gets close enough, it speaks to her in a familiar voice.

"Aren't you tired of having to be good and stick to the rules all the time?" I ask, "Don't you just want to break free and go crazy?"


"True, the goddess of life isn't exactly the murderous type." Shadow Stephanie says, a mobile phone appearing in her hand which she taps a number into.

 

Ihra pauses before trying to talk.
"...Aj?"


"I am currently in a realm known for being home to many murderous creatures, though this city is still on the lower end of dangerous places I've been to."

 

"Technically," I shrug, "So how about it? Give me that pinecone, and you can wreck shit up. The others have offers for you too, though."


"We try to keep crime low here. We might have the capability to easily kill, but that doesn't mean that we have to kill." Shadow Stephanie says, before putting the phone up to her ear.

 

“Other...s?”


Scurn nods, keeping quiet.

 

"Yeah, consider this a fork in the road," I say, "Your vision isn't linear. You've got options, you just need to find them. Or, go with me and you can torture Abigail as a child without hurting the real one!"


Shadow Stephanie chats on the phone for a bit, stopping at one point to look Scurn over before seeming to describe him.

Eventually, Shadow Stephanie hangs up, turning back to Scurn and Thirteen.

"Alright, you've got a chance. You can go to Praecantatia and she'll see if you can get a meeting with Gaia. No promises though." Shadow Stephanie says.

"Are you going with him to see Praecantatia, or do you want to stay here?" Shadow Stephanie asks you.

 

"I'll go with him. See this whole thing trough."

 

"Alright. You should be safe, Stephanie says she trusts you." Shadow Stephanie says, smiling a little.

 

Ihra turns and looks around the park for anyone else, seeming about as untrusting of you as she currently is Abigail.


Scurn nods, attempting to bow (albeit clearly not knowing how to bow).
"No promises is further than I expected to get."

 

The kids digging into the stump stand out to Ihra, though there seems to be an old chainlink fence near to them that looks interesting. Ihra can't see much past it other than the tops of trees, yet a part of her wants to see further into it.

A small spider lands on Ihra's arm from above, tiny legs tickling her skin.


"I wish you luck. Try to be respectful in front of Praecantatia, she's an incredibly powerful goddess." Shadow Stephanie says, glancing up as a diamond-shaped object seems to sing a metallic note as it falls from the sky; burying itself into the ground in front of Scurn and Thirteen. It chimes a little, before glowing and shooting out comparatively bright light. A rectangle of light forms above diamond, and a portal opens within which seems to lead to an island in a more earth-like sky.

You feel the ground vibrate a little as a diamond-shaped object seems to fall from the sky out of nowhere, a bright doorway-like portal opening above it. It appears to be your transport to Praecantatia's islands, considering the scene of floating islands beyond the portal.

 

Ihra keeps an eye on the spider before seeing if she recognizes anyone digging into the stump and heading over towards the chainlink fence.


"Try is all I can ever do." Scurn shrugs, waiting for Thirteen to take the lead.

The spider jumps off of Ihra quickly after landing, disappearing into the grass.

It just seems to be a pair of random kids digging into the stump. While she doesn't recognise them, she gets a strange feeling of wanting to stay away from them, while also wanting to join in the dig. Once she reaches the chainlink fence, she finds a small hole in it where a connecting portion has come apart. She could probably push her way through and explore further past it, into what seems to be woods.

 

I do, heading through the portal.

 

Scurn follows fairly close behind.

Ihra tries to slip out of the opening in the fence, seeming keen on leaving Abigail alone.

A vast array of floating islands contrasted against a rich baby-blue sky stretches out in front of you. Healthy green grass completely covers each island, with flowers, bees and butterflies plentiful throughout them. Between each island seems to be a sturdy wooden bridge, enough to hold the weight of the robotic golems that wander about the islands; their footsteps chiming with each gentle step. A cool breeze blows by as you look towards the centre of the islands - quite a walk away - and see a gigantic tree far taller than any skyscraper protruding from the centre island, a lush forest protecting it's perimeter.

A passing golem sings notes kindly to you, red lights flashing between it's eyes, though seems to take offence to Scurn's presence. It's hard to tell, however, as it lacks a lot of emotion.


As soon as Ihra passes through the fence, an immense wave of nausea hits her as her world seems to blur. The pinecone in her hand seems to pull back as if attracted by a magnet, and something seems to tell Ihra to follow it back. It's clear that something wants to take Ihra back, or to keep her out. The sickness is just about bearable, though it'd likely become a lot more potent if Ihra tried to push forward.

 

Ihra hesitantly makes her way over to Abigail, seeming caught off-guard.

 

Abigail looks up curiously when Ihra gets close, before smiling.

"Oh hey! You're the new kid, right? I'm Abigail, nice to meet you!" Abigail says happily, in a much younger, cheerier voice than Ihra is used to, "Did you want to play with me for bit? You can borrow some of my Element cards if you don't have any."

 

Ihra hesitates.
"N-nice to meet you too. I'm just looking around for now, though. Thanks for the offer, though." She says, stepping back.

 

"Ok!" Abigail says happily, going back to her game.

Ihra sees the kids running away from the stump they were digging into across the field, looking scared.

 

Ihra turns to the stump, now curious.
