Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The faerie flies through the forest in an odd fashion, almost like following a path, before arriving at a larger forest guardian village.


Abigail shrugs.

"That's...kind of hard to pull off." Katie says.


"Well, I'll make sure they get it." Stephanie says, sounding a little more confident.

 

Ihra follows them, albeit at a moderate distance.


“You have allies that are willing to commit such atrocities, and have. EBB left no survivors in that city when your parents were rescued. It’s not as hard as you think.”


“That’s the spirit.” Rose says, seeming a bit less satisfied.

 

"Here we are." The faerie says with a smile.


"Well, humans like to retaliate, and it's kind of scary what weapons they can develop." Katie says, worried.


Stephanie turns to leave, taking a quick glance around before she does.

 

Ihra looks around.
“Which house would belong to Tiril’s family?”


“I’m not saying that it’s not scary, I’m saying that you’ve been given the tools to wipe the slate clean and you simply haven’t been using them.”


There’s nobody else around.
“Don’t take too long; but stop bending over backwards, you hear me?”

 

The faerie looks around the village a bit.

"Uhh...that one." The faerie says, pointing to a large house in the right of the village.


"Well, not all humans are strictly evil, so..." Abigail says, sounding offput.


"We need to do something, I don't want to laze around like we have been." Stephanie says.

 

Ihra nods.
“Thank you.” She says, before heading towards the indicated house while looking around.


“Until now I wasn’t aware you had any remorse for things like the hundreds of kids you’ve either orphaned or killed.”


“Start with repairing what you’ve broken. We can help after that.”

 

The village is much larger, stronger and more alive than the previous one; which seemed more like an outpost. A large decorated pine tree stands tall in the center of the village, while a carved wooden statue of what appears to be Gaia stands off to the side. A few campfires and campfire pits seem to be set up to keep people warm in the cold season, and coloured spherical lights hang from small trees and houses to keep the town lit at night; though whatever produces the light isn't fire or electrical.

Tiril's parents house stands tall and sturdy, a couple of redwood trees either side of it with a small garden out front and behind it.


"Sometimes I do, depends on the kid," Abigail shrugs, "If anything really gets to me, I just get Aj to make me forget."

"Shadows can mess with your memories, to an extent." Katie adds.


Stephanie nods, leaving.

 

Ihra continues her approach, seeming marginally more relaxed.


"Better than Iris combing through your memories to pick out any trauma." I sigh.

 

Wintry flowers grow along the path leading up to the front door, releasing pleasant smells into the air and seeming to calm Ihra further.


"She can do that?" Katie asks, sounding worried.

 

Upon reaching the front door, Ihra knocks on the door.


"Ihra can create anything and see what primordial things make up what already exists. Iris can see the same thing, but instead of creating anything she can remove bits of things. I know Iris is a prick, but that's because you really can't oppose her. Xlentia's erasure may be scary, but that level of devastation is entry level classwork for Iris." I say, seeming oddly casual about it.

 

A tall and incredibly strong looking forest guardian opens the door.

"Ah, hello! I don't reckon I've seen you around here before. What can I do for you?" The forest guardian asks happily.


"What if she were to erase herself?" Abigail asks, half serious.

 

“My name is Ihra, and I was hoping to find Tiril’s family. I met him in the Realm of Shadows and wanted to share what I hope is perceived as good news.” She says.


“Then she’s stuck in nothingness until Ihra makes her a new body. Or longer.”

 

"Well, you've found his father!" The forest guardian says happily, "So tell me, Ihra, how's my son?"


"So she's stuck in null?" Katie asks.

 

“Your son... well, he has a bit of a bowing problem, but aside from that he’s doing well. I’ll need to check back in with the king, but he’s on track to have a job and housing in the Shadow King’s palace. He said that he wanted to get some money to send home in part for defense, so I figured I’d come take a look myself after I helped him get the papers he needed.”


“Sort of. I don’t think it’s really fatal for her, she’s kinda null incarnate in a sense.”

 

"That's excellent news! I knew my boy could do it." The forest guardian says, overjoyed.


"That doesn't make sense," Abigail says, puzzled, "Null cannot be incarnate because...well it's null. It is the very opposite of what existence is."

 

“He met two goddesses on his way to the capital, though he got a bit detoured with a shadow beast for a little while. He’s fine, though.”


“Based off Iris’ skillset, I’d say that explains a decent bit about her.”

 

"Thank you for informing me of his safety. Is there anything I can do for you to repay you?" The forest guardian asks.


"So she's not really null incarnate?" Abigail asks.

“Scurn, let’s go.”
I turn to leave.

 

“Not bowing is more than enough.” Ihra laughs, albeit sheepishly. “I spent five minutes getting your son to move after he found out I was a goddess!”


“You know what... forget it. I don’t even know how those two work.”

“Don’t need to tell me twice.” He says, starting to walk off before you do.

 

"Glad to see he knows who to praise!" The forest guardian says, letting out a hearty, genuine laugh, "If you ever need help with anything, know you've got my favour, Ihra."


"I don't think we're supposed to understand it, to be honest," Abigail shrugs, "Certain things are for the gods to worry about."
