Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"I'll give you clearance to enter and leave as you please." Eve says, smiling.

"R-Really?" Imp-chan says, surprised, before holding her arms out in a hug.

Eve happily accepts, giving Imp-chan a hug. Imp-chan seems overjoyed, rubbing her eye to get rid of a stray tear of joy.


The stone steps seem incredibly sturdy, and eventually the human arrives at Abigail's front door.

Abigail groans from down below, surfacing from the lava and flying up to her house. A few stray blobs of lava fall onto the wooden platform around her house. Instead of burning through, however, they just fizzle away.

"Welcome to my home, please don't trash it." Abigail says, taking her keys out of her pocket and opening the front door.

 

“Scavenging, stealth, survival, some of them are just good at being small.”

 

Ihra smiles, glancing at Stephanie before telepathically linking with her.
“You okay? You look kinda drained for just getting back out here.”


“I’m not quite that suicidal, mind you.” I say, entering.

“Do any of them know how to handle living in not a ruin? I don’t have time or the ability to teach them how one society or another works.”

 

"I can manage. I'll just take some time to rest once I get where I'm going." Stephanie explains, letting her tiredness show.


Abigail steps inside, leaving the door open for the human.

"Living room's in there, kitchens out here, I'll go message Katie." Abigail says, gesturing to the relevant rooms of her house before heading upstairs to her room.

 

“Some of them, but most are pretty good about learning.”

 

“...Is there a particular reason you want to go there? It seems like you’re just trying to get me on board.”

“Don’t overdo it already, you just got back.” Ihra says, concerned.


I head to the living room and stand idly on one foot, petting my shoulder dragon.

 

"Praecantatia wanted me to gather information so we can start helping out where it counts. I don't want to stop just yet." Stephanie says.


A comfortable sofa is present, along with a large tv and some rather up-to-date video game consoles. A framed poster hangs on the wall opposite to the poster. It seems to be from a video game, and is signed.

After a short while, Abigail enters the living room.

"Katie said she's on her way. You want a hot drink?" Abigail offers, calm and casual.

 

“Emerald should be able to give that to you, except she seemed pretty annoyed with whatever tension’s between our realities right now.”


“No, but I appreciate the offer. Evion might, though he’s probably too busy being confused on why the sun’s up.” I say.

 

"She did, but I was distracted by the respite emergency. I didn't want to leave them to suffer." Stephanie says.


"What does he drink?" Abigail asks.

 

"This is true. I want to see how they're doing."

 

Ihra smiles, not saying anything more.


“I’m assuming you don’t just have blood tea laying around, so you could try some other type of tea. As long as it’s not caffeinated, the heat doesn’t usually bother him.”

“Then go.” Scurn says. “I’m not unfamiliar with killing time.”

 

Eve and Imp-chan seem to finish the conversation they were having at about the same time, and Eve turns to Stephanie.

"Will you be coming with me to fix the respite generator, Stephanie?" Eve asks.

"As far as the void." Stephanie says, sounding a little apologetic.

"Let's go, then." Eve says cheerily, heading out of her room; Stephanie following.

Imp-chan smiles at Ihra happily.


"Got it." Abigail says, heading out to the kitchen.

A rather short time later, Abigail returns with a steaming up of camomile tea, offering it to the human.

 

“You first.”
I gesture to the Maralune portal.

 

"No faith, huh?" Scurn snickers, heading through.

"I need to head off to Earth. You think you'll be fine here?" Ihra asks Imp-chan.


I accept it and hold it up to my pet, who sniffs the cup before appearing to bite into the rim.
"Thanks."

 

"Yes, I think so." Imp-chan nods.


"No problem." Abigail says, smiling, before sitting down on her other sofa and turning on the TV.

A program comes on about a group of people taking common myths and beliefs and testing them to find out if they're true or not.

 

Ihra smiles.
"I'll see you later, then." She says, turning to leave.


I stand idly, seeming to be fighting a bit with Evion to stop him from dumping the tea over my shoulder.

 

Imp-chan waves as Ihra leaves, seeming happy.


Abigail sits and watches TV, looking tired.

A few episodes later, there's a knock at Abigail's door; though Abigail seems to have fallen asleep.


Stephanie and Eve enter the void palace library, immediately heading towards the portal room to go to their separate destinations. Eve scans the area as she enters to make sure there aren't any threats.

 

Ihra warps to Earth, looking for any place matching the description of Ardell.


"Come in, Abigail fell asleep." I call. "It should still be unlocked."


Xlentia shows up as a giant threat, albeit still contained. Other than that, nobody else seems to be of note.

 

Ihra finds a redwood forest, which seems like a pretty good sign. A light fog rests in the morning light, frost on the ground.


There's some hesitation, before Katie enters with her double-trident held ready, glancing at Abigail, and then to the human.

"What did you do to her!?" Katie demands, sounding serious.


Eve gives Stephanie a thumbs up, who nods in response. The pair head to the portal room, Stephanie heading to Gaia's realm, and Eve to Maralune's.

 

Ihra checks if the forest is near mountains, as described.


“I stood here and my dragon’s majesty made her pass out.” I say sarcastically. “The second half of it’s a lie, obviously. She invited me in, offered my dragon tea, and by the time you got here she fell asleep because she insisted on trying to fly here in her dragon form.”
Evion hisses at her before I tap him on the snout.
“For the love of... stop hissing at the people I work with!” I sigh, seeming annoyed.


A few raptors look at Eve as she enters, though nobody even moves as much to suggest an interest in speaking with each other.


Miorah seems to be waiting in the ruins of Gaia’s temple.
“You’ll be screwed alone.”
