Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

Katie seems crestfallen.

"I think it might be a good idea too. Katie, I don't want you getting hurt like that again." Artemis says, putting a hand on Katie's shoulder.

"B-But, I like being with you guys! It's tons of fun!" Katie says sadly.

"Katie, we're thinking of your safety here. Had Artemis and the others not been around to help you, you would've died." I say.

"I could be more cautious!" Katie says, holding back tears.

"Katie, someone just tried to steal your soul. Are you sure you want to hang around in such a hostile environment?"

"Well...no...yes...I-I don't know!" Katie says, unable to hold back her tears any longer.

I look to Virei'tus, "What do you think?" I ask.

 

"Let her choose, but Katie, know that we can't guarantee your safety."

Ihra hugs Katie again.

 

Katie hugs Ihra, "I...I don't know..." Katie says through tears, confused.

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" A voice shouts from the distance.

Abigail flies over rather quickly, stopping and sliding across the ground towards Katie.

"You can't let my best friend leave!" Abigail says, saddened.

"Abigail, it's for her own safety. Her soul almost got stolen." I say.

"What!?" Abigail exclaims, shocked.

"A bolt was sucking her soul away, apparently it was the cause of the tunnel collapse. You would know this if you weren't off doing your own thing." Stephanie says.

"M-Maybe I should go..." Katie says, "I-It is d-dangerous here..."

"Katie, you're like...the nicest person here! You can't just leave us! Everything would be super depressing!" Abigail protests.

"Well...maybe I should s-stay...or...I don't know alright!" Katie says, crying even more.

 

"I'm sorry to bring it up, but I don't want you to die..."
Ihra hugs tighter.
"But I don't want you to go either..."

 

Skeletons crawl out of the ground and start advancing towards Virei'tus, only stopping behind the lines of ghosts.
The runes in the air above Arnold glow brighter.

 

"I'll let you prepare. You realize you've been busying yourself with my weapon and not me?"

 

"I j-just d-don't know...it's s-so hard to d-decide..." Katie says sadly, hugging Ihra.

"Maybe we should give it some time, let Katie make up her mind. If everything seems to be safe, she should stay. If she gets hurt again, she should go." I suggest.

"I g-guess that c-could work." Katie says, cheering up slightly.


OOC: Why do I get the feeling you're trying to get rid of Katie, and you're presenting me with the 'Good' and 'Bad' options: Katie goes home (Good), or Katie gets killed (Bad).

 

"Oh... well that was a bit awkward. Still, this is going to help quite a bit."
The skeletons seem to burn up in a purple and blue fire.
A similar fire starts to spread to the ghosts.
Arnold starts tracing the teleport.

 

"Sounds like a plan. Sorry Katie..."

It's hard to trace, but you find the direction they went.

 

Katie pulls away from Ihra, "I've had so much fun so far...I-I don't want that to end..." Katie says sadly.

"If there's a sign of serious danger, you're going to have to go. We can't risk you getting killed; you can come back and say goodbye once the danger is gone." I say.

"Let's hope it doesn't come to that though!" Abigail says, smiling at Katie.

Katie seems to cheer up a bit.

 

"Good. I didn't want you to leave."
"I'll keep an eye out for us in spirit, but my physical body will be a liability. Hope you and Sgavrinn don't mind...?"

 

Katie smiles at Ihra, wiping her eyes.

"I've got us covered on that too." I say, gesturing to my eyes which glow brightly.

"I think I might be able to help with the physical problem," Stephanie says, summoning a voodoo doll, "But I'll need to link up some of your soul."

 

"I can't. See, even if the scales grew back there, the nerves and stuff wouldn't. Thanks for the thought, but I fear I may be stuck like this."
Her ethereal form goes back into her body.

"Artemis, do you have a problem if the prophet lady stays on my back? I can't think of a better way to let her keep up with us." Sgavrinn asks.

"They're almost here; they've traced the teleport."
"I guess we'll have to put the emotions on hold, else we'll all die."
Ihra prepares a charge.

 

Stephanie de-summons the doll, "Alright." She says calmly.

"I think that's a great idea! What do you like to eat? I should give you a treat for being a good boy!" Artemis replies in a cutesy tone.

I give Katie a concerned look. She looks back, holding her trident ready with an air of determination.

Artemis draws and readies her bow; Abigail extends her claws and a ring of crystals spins around Stephanie. I stand back on two feet, holding Shadow Katana ready.

 

"Well, see you on the other side... hehe..."
Arnold teleports to the group just as the last of the ghosts burns up. You notice the same fire starting to surround him.

Arnold appears in front of the group.
"Hello again... I guess it's time I actually properly attacked first."
Something doesn't feel right...

 

I stab Shadow Katana down on Arnold, it's massive size rupturing the earth. A few of Stephanie's crystals turn into large earthen spikes, which fly towards Arnold. Abigail starts throwing fireballs, and numerous ice clones of Katie form around Arnold and start attacking. Artemis fires a volley of arrows.

"DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE!" Abigail screams as she throws fireballs.

 

"It feels odd using spells named after you."
"Heh, the funny thing is they're never ones I knew. I was one of few to study the type of spells I did."
"Well, do you remember the 'withering blossom' that's theoretically forbidden?"
"On your mark!"

"It's about time you properly attacked."

"No games here." Ihra smirks.
"Kalne Arta!"

-Teleportation is suppressed

 

"Oh fine then..."
Skeletons start climbing out of the ground and start countering the ice clones. Arnold hovers into the air.
Dark lightning flies everywhere. The earth spikes are caught inside it and just stay in the air.
Arnold counters the fireballs with green bolts.
He lets arrows hit him, but he picks them out quickly. The wounds seem to heal quite quickly.

"Not like I needed to teleport away anyway."
More lightning arcs towards Virei'tus.
"And thanks for reminding me about games... they're always fun to play with..."
A familiar crate falls out of the sky...
... and all the contents instantly turn into a dozen monsters and a dozen armed warriors. All of them charge at Virei'tus.

 

The wisp appears in his hand and becomes a blade the size of Aj. It sweeps across the monsters and warriors, ending them.
"The cliche part of me feels like screaming 'thou hast been smitten,' but..."

He gives in. Arnold's blasted with a concentrated bolt of light magic. Internally.
"Thou hast been smitten!"

 

I stomp on the skeletons, leaving nothing but bone dust behind.

Abigail charges up a fireball before letting it loose. A large jet of superheated flame heads straight towards Arnold.

Artemis fires more arrows, these dipped in a potent poison. She carefully dips them in a cup held next to her by a wooden hand.

Large totems appear in a circle around Arnold. He begins to hallucinate, seeing clones of Artemis and Katie, Stephanie running towards him with a large blade, and I'm nowhere to be seen. The jet of flame Abigail fires looks like a pretty rainbow with puppies and kittens playing on it.

Ice begins to form a short distance away. It seems to be growing into a large figure.
