"Oh! I see! I didn't know the light realm had projections of guardians too. How are you able to survive here though? I thought the realm of shadows is poison to light creatures." Tiril inquires, curious.

 

“I’m from the other reality, remember? I really am a dragon. This form is called a draconian body, but I do have a normal dragon body.” Ihra says, growing vibrant flowers from her claws and offering them to Tiril.

 

"Wha-? S-So, you're some kind of dragon-guardian?" Tiril asks, confused but accepting the flowers.

 

"I'm not a guardian. I'm straight up a dragon. If we weren't in town, I'd show you. This form is just so I... you know, fit in buildings."

 

"But...how can you command such precise magic as a dragon?" Tiril asks, confused.

 

"Dragons weren't hunted nearly as much where I'm from. They weren't forced to live feral to survive, so we're... how do I put this? I've got the strength and magical affinity of a dragon along with the precision and skill of someone who lives in a civilized community. Except my home's war-torn and has been since I was born, so take that as you will." Ihra explains. "One of the goddesses back home is a dragon that's so big she can't fit in the Shadow Palace, if that gives you any sense of what dragons can become when not tormented."

 

"So...it's like your society evolved primarily from dragons rather than humans?" Tiril guesses.

 

"Essentially, yes. The only difference was instead of wrestling with our surroundings to live somewhere, we were really just either more or less comfortable in a region."
Pause.
"I think. I spent my childhood in caves. Like, the first eight hundred years. I still don't like caves nowadays."

 

"Don't dragons like living in caves for...protection?" Tiril asks.

 

“I guess? I suppose it’s also easier than digging out your own den.” Ihra shrugs. “I prefer being out in the sun, though.”

 

"I still can't believe there's an entirely different version of r-reality," Tiril says, seeming to scare himself with the concept, "A completely d-different version of what I know..."

 

“Really it’s just... something else entirely. We don’t have guardians over there.”

 

"How does your earth keep itself in check?" Tiril asks, shocked.

 

"Well... it sort of does it on its own. Except for we don't have an Earth." Ihra says. "We've got a whole bunch of planets with stuff living on them. The six main gods claim four planets as their primary domain, though Idhaenna's reach touches pretty much everything else there is along with her four."

 

"Oh, I've met Idhaenna! She's the one who brought me here," Tiril says happily, "Or, I should say Lady Iana."

 

"You got her to let you call her Iana?" Ihra asks, surprised. "She usually reserves that for her inner circle."

 

"O-Oh, is it really that special?" Tiril asks, blushing a bit.

There's a rush of air as a cloaked figure runs past the pair and heads toward the palace. Even though they're sprinting, their footsteps seem oddly quiet, and Ihra feels the sensation of getting touched over as if attempting to be pickpocketed as the figure passes. Nothing seems to get taken however, though Tiril seems to have had the same done to him as he checks himself over.

"H-Hey!" Tiril shouts nervously after the figure.

 

"Kleptomania is considered a rare mental disorder. It's classified by the recurrent inability to resist urges to steal items that you generally don't really need and that usually have little value."

 

Ihra raises her staff, twilight shackles chaining the figure to Ihra's staff as she scans their soul to see if she recognizes them.
"What did they take?" She asks, relatively calm.

"I'm not sure I fit that description. Stealing's fun, assuming it's a legitimate heist. I don't just swipe some kid's toys from their living rooms in the dead of night, that ain't cool. Not having anything to do's how I got like this anyways, don't need more idiots like me."

 

The cloak seems to have a potent enough enchantment to cloud the figure's soul, though they try yanking on the shackles to pull Ihra's staff free; rather than try to break out of them.

"N-Nothing, I think. I'm not carrying much." Tiril says, a little shaken.

The figure turns their head, only a glowing red eye visible under their cloak, at center of their forehead. Ihra suddenly finds fire all around her, below her feet and on her body; though it doesn't seem to actually harm her. Tiril screams, freaking out about something.
