“What do you want to do?”

 

“I dunno. Levi says there’s not a good opening to come back yet, so that’s off the table. I dunno what’s out here, though.”

“Do what you must. And, just to confirm; you said your name was Tiril, correct? What are you hoping to get a job as?”

 

"There's a lot. Different people can get you different places, though."

 

"W-Well, I hear there's jobs available for gardeners. M-Maybe I could work my way up from there?" Tiril admits.

 

Idhaenna sighs, before her hololens blinks red.
“Shit, the time! Good luck don’t go back out into the wild!” She says, digitizing and vanishing almost instantly.

“I’m willing to be dragged around as long as said different places aren’t prisons, jails, or the like.”

 

Tiril waves at the space where Idhaenna used to be, before heading through the city nervously.

 

Tiril gets a slight feeling of being watched, though nobody seems to be keeping a particular eye on him... in the physical plane.

 

Tiril speeds up, glancing around nervously and watching for any guards he can run to should things get worse. A few Shadows glance at Tiril, but don't pay him much mind.

 

"You could probably slip out of them, though, if given the chance."

 

"Just because I've done it a bunch doesn't mean I enjoy doing so. There are a lot of people a lot colder than I am, and I still don't want to mess with mercs or murderers. Granted, I suppose I am one myself, but I still like to think I'm different than those who kill for enjoyment."

The further from the gate he goes, the less he feels watched.

 

Tiril tries to get as far away from the entrance as possible while heading toward the palace, seeming to be a little more comforted by not being watched.

 

He winds up bumping into Ihra en route, which feels more like walking into a brick wall to him and a feather brushing against her.
“Gods, I’m sorry! Are you alright?” She asks, immediately turning towards Tiril.

 

"Oh, um, yes. I'm fine," Tiril says, turning red with embarrassment, "I'm sorry, I'm new here. I...don't really know my way around that well."

 

“Don’t worry about that, I’ve been here dozens of times and the only place I know how to get to is the palace!” Ihra chuckles, giving Tiril a gentle smile. “You smell a bit like burnt shadow beast, though. Did you only just get here?”

 

Tiril nods.

"I got lost in a forest on the way here. A beautiful goddess came to my aid though, she said she was from another reality." Tiril explains.

 

“I suppose you’re just bumping into all sorts of people from my home, then. Maybe it’s just your lucky day? Anyhow... if you’re heading to the palace then feel free to tag along.” She offers, turning back towards the palace.

 

"Oh, yes, thank you," Tiril says nervously, "Um. My name's Tiril, uh, what's yours?"

 

“Ihra. Nice to meet you. Though, I’m curious... why come here rather than be on Earth? I mean, sure there aren’t humans, but there also aren’t house-sized feral beasts.” She asks, starting to walk.

 

"I heard the jobs here are pretty good. I was hoping to meet with the head king to see if he'd let me work," Tiril explains, calming down a bit, "I...suppose it would also let me raise some funds for back home."

 

"...Have you ever heard of kleptomania?"
I ask out of my own curiosity.
