Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“They will. Well... not for a bit. Tenebrae’s equivalent is mortally wounded and bent on getting on Earth to give someone a piece of her remaining mind, but aside from that things are looking up.”

 

"Can't carve through the wall?"

 

"The walls are built to endure hundreds of thousands of strikes from Xlentia's monofilament daggers, among other things she may try to use to get out. It's meant to keep her in, though... we're having a bit of trouble keeping it that way. As long as we keep it sealed, though, she can't warp out and get to Earth."

 

"Isn't it only a matter of time, then?"

 

"We're hoping we buy the other gods enough time to find a way to prepare without... well, sealing her."

 

"Hells..."
I check to make sure Scurn is still here.

 

He hasn't moved.
"Seriously? Just because I don't want to be carried around like an infant?" He asks, annoyed.

 

"I apologize very sincerely for taking a responsibility that I have to take."
I say, dry and sarcastic.
"But it looks like the gods might be too busy for your visit."

 

Tiril looks even more terrified than before.

"W-What is she going to do to Earth?" Tiril asks, shaking.

 

“The worst she could do is stomp someone flat. She can’t fly with half a wing missing, and she’s so weak she’d probably just pass out after a day. Most of her energy is being spent trying to leave her chambers, and her guards are doing their best to keep her in that room. Not that she’s terribly thrilled about that, either.”

“Levi says you’re bluffing and the rift is anchored in the library.” Scurn sighs. “We’re getting along real well so far, apparently.”

 

Tiril calms down a bit, seeming less threatened.

"I...suppose she's not as powerful as Tenebrae, then?" Tiril asks.

 

"It is, but that doesn't invalidate my point. Is your visit really that important to you?"

 

“She usually has the power to erase all traces of someone from every possible timeline, including memories of them. Again, she’s currently mortally wounded.”

Scurn pauses.
“I get that you have little reason to trust me, so if they’re busy then so be it. However, yes the visit is that important to me. I’m scum, I get that, and I get that most people don’t want to deal with me. These other gods, though; they turn things around for people. The rest of my crew ain’t all bad people, but there ain’t many places for honest lives here right now. Over there, though? I hear it’s a damn haven, and I want to see for myself. That’s why the visit’s important to me.” Scurn says. “My crew’s been following me in hopes of escaping the shithole we’re stuck in, and as far as I see it this is my chance to finally get ‘em out of the underground.”

 

Tiril goes white with fear, not saying anything else.

 

“Relax, she can’t do it in this state. That’d be like freaking out just because I can make and destroy planets at a whim. I won’t, but I can.”

 

Tiril doesn't respond, seeming scared out of his mind.

An armoured Shadow seems to be waiting for Idhaenna and Tiril at the edge of the forest, a large blade resting on their hip.

 

Idhaenna glances at the shadow.
“Something the matter?” She asks, blocking Tiril from seeing the shadow.

 

The Shadow glances over.

"Hm?" They ask, sounding calm, "I didn't know there were others out here. You're not foraging, are you?"

 

“No, I stumbled across another solo who was lost as hell. Figured I’d bring them back to the capital. Where’re you off to, if you don’t mind me asking?”

 

"Who's a part of your crew?"
I start heading back to the library.
