Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“You alive in there?” She calls, stopping.


“They’re monks, don’t pay them much mind.” Mirage says from underfoot.

“Do you think otherwise?”
You’re just in front of the portal room. To the left sounds like Xlentia pounding at her chamber door furiously, to the right would be the library and the rift to the other reality.

You know, maybe she hoped we’d forgive her. If she didn’t want to be with us, she wouldn’t have given us any leads.

 

She doesn't seem to get a response, though the guardian seems to get even more lost.


"Hardly reliable workers. If they were on my ship, I'd have them thrown overboard for their insolence." Aquira comments with slight spite.

 

"I can't read her that much. We'll see when we get there, won't we?"

 

Idhaenna’s hololens tries to scan a path through the trees to the guardian, though Idhaenna seems more content with giving them plenty of space.


“Might I suggest keeping that sentiment to yourself? Few of those working are workers by trade. Half of those you’ve ordered to work have never touched a construction tool in their life, nonetheless know how to use one of foreign design. Beyond that, most of us are sensitive to offenses on the others... and you explicitly gave them the option of not working.” Mirage explains. “Though, since I’m speaking against you I suppose asking you to take a couple paces forward to stop standing on me is too much?”

Fair enough. I don’t think she was mad enough not to talk to us.
Pause.
By the way, the dragon isn’t coming. I’ve lost its scent now.

 

"Phew.. that's good to know."

"What about her scent, is she getting closer yet?"

 

Idhaenna's hololens finds a path to the guardian nearly immediately, though judging by the movements of the guardian, they seem to be rather terrified.


Aquira performs a graceful backflip, either to show off or make sure she gets off of Mirage.

"If they have hands, they can work. I'm sure the reward of payment and my favour is enough of an incentive." Aquira says, arms crossed.

 

Idhaenna keeps the tesla on as she works her way closer, still keeping distance from the guardian.
"Relax, I'm only a ghost." She calls.


"While a reward is enough for most, we have no knowledge of local currency and thus no known sense of worth for our time. Furthermore, most of the soldiers don't care much for your favor after Kiin died to Katie's hands." Mirage says. "I, however, can appreciate anyone with enough courtesy not to walk over people - and for that you have my thanks."

Yes, we're steadily getting closer. I think I see somewhere she may have rested before, should we stop and look there or just keep going? I can say for sure she's further away than the rest point, though.

Your bestial form looks towards a small den dug underneath a patch of short grass. It's a few paces off of the path, and you can see little pawprints that look like Anne's leading to and away from it.

 

Either the guardian doesn't hear or doesn't seem to care, an arrow suddenly plunging into a tree near to Idhaenna. A small, black squirrel hangs on the arrow; the projectile piercing it's neck as it suddenly turns into an even smaller black crystal.

"G-Get away from me!" The guardian shouts, scared.


"My daughter shall be dealt with appropriately. I'm sure your kind can understand the value of precious gems, at least, having seen one of your deities." Aquira explains.

 

"By the stars, relax! I'm here because you look lost as hell." Idhaenna retorts, another core putting up a shield around herself.


"We are not of that reality, though I take it you did get the message I sent out for you. I was there, and I must say there was no malicious intent in Katie's eyes. There was however, with one of her friends. Red haired, did her best to agitate Kiin into throwing a fit. Seemed pretty dumb all around, if you ask me."

 

"H-Huh? Who's there!?" The guardian asks, a hastily shot arrow missing Idhaenna by a wide margin.


"Abigail, Katie's friend. I knew she was a bad influence, but this takes it to a new level," Aquira says, sounding angry, "If only I'd sent Sidus to retrieve her instead..."

 

"Not a shadow. I mean, there probably are shadows, but I'm not one of them." Idhaenna says, drawing closer.


"I can relay the message to him, if you wish. Assuming he isn't in twilight, I can find him." Mirage offers.

 

"Let's just keep going. We'd only get further away if we spent time looking around."

 

"H-How do I know this isn't just another trick?" The guardian asks, suspicious and nervous.


"That would ease my mind." Aquira says appreciatively.

 

"If I wanted to trick you, I would've already poked your soul. I don't know why you're here, though."


Mirage goes silent for a bit, before the sand he was under appears briefly disturbed.
"It is done."

Sidus feels a telepathic connection form from a cloaked figure nearby.
"Sidus, correct? Aquira requested I notify you to search for Abigail instead. I watched the scene unfold; Abigail agitated Kiin into throwing a fit, Katie had no ill intent while shattering Kiin's skull."

 

"I-I'm just looking for the head kingdom here, I got lost on the way." The guardian says nervously, glancing around for Idhaenna.


"Not surprising that she'd have a part in this, Thank you, I'll see to it both are brought back." Sidus responds.

 

"Sure, of course." Idhaenna says, projecting a holographic clone of herself in the guardian's view. "I suppose everyone just goes out willy-nilly here, considering how many beasts I've electrocuted."


"Their companion also electrocuted Kiin fairly badly, but in his defense Kiin threw a fit in his house and he tried to shield most of his property. Consider looking into him as well, I believe his name was Cel, but he had the least significant role in Kiin's death."

 

"They're pretty dangerous..." The guardian says, calming down a bit.


Sidus nods, heading onward. He seems to have Cel's house in view, though it's still a bit of a trip to get there.

 

"What gave you the thought that a mortal running around out here solo would be a good idea?" Idhaenna asks, swapping places with her projection and eyeing the guardian over more closely with her hololens. "At that, who are you?"


Mirage drops the telepathic link, not seeming too concerned about what Sidus does.
He shifts about in the sand to smooth out the surface again, becoming motionless again afterwards.

 

"I just wanted to find the main kingdom to work. I-I don't know where it is, and I thought the forests here would at least be safe." The guardian explains, hesitant to reveal his name.


Aquira walks back to her ship, seeming satisfied.

A while later, Sidus returns with Katie and Abigail following; neither of which seem particularly worried or scared, likely unaware of their impending punishment.

 

"You know what you sound like to me?" Idhaenna asks, the question clearly loaded.
"...A thief." She says, stepping closer with a scowl. "Lie to me about your name, thief. I dare you."


Apocalypse turns, seeming a bit annoyed with Abigail's presence regardless of the distance.
