"Attempted and succeeded. I don't take kindly to actions against my people, which is probably why some thought our relations were strained when you threatened Stella."

"Carry him so he can't pull any tricks, until you're out of the palace."

True... but I need more than, like, three minutes to rest.

 

"Okay, good point."

"Just take a rest when you must, I'll see what I can do."

 

"He was strong enough to survive it?" Praecantatia asks, looking worried.

 

“No, that was the one time I missed.” Idhaenna says sarcastically.
“Yes, he took it to the face.” She says, returning to a calm demeanor. “Did you expect some weakling who couldn’t hold his own?”

Alright. Regardless, I’m fresh from a nap.

 

"I just...didn't think he was that powerful." Praecantatia says, surprised, telekinetically moving her mixed potion over to the succubus and I and splashing it on the both of us. I seem to get snapped out of my chilled out state immediately, while the succubus herself rejects me entirely, throwing me to the ground.

I shamefully walk back and sit behind Praecantatia, avoiding eye contact.

"So, not even the power of a dying star was enough to put a stop to him..." Praecantatia ponders.

 

"A fair idea."

I turn to Scurn.
"I'm carrying you."

 

"Well.. in a few hours, some sort of rest might be good for you."

 

“I’m the only one who can work and develop faster than he can in my reality. I’m ahead, don’t get me wrong, but I’m not gambling my followers’ lives on my own gambit.”

Hopefully we’ll find her by then.

“Wait what? I can walk, you’ve seen me do that just fine.” He protests.

 

"No use thinking about it. Just gotta go and hope for the best for now."

"We're getting closer. aren't we."

 

"I understand, though I think you'd see why it's a little concerning that some of your most powerful weaponry wasn't enough to kill the hive master." Praecantatia explains.

 

“What, you think I’d actually risk my edge against him? This thing is so far behind my failsafe, though I suppose it does have a reputation of being fairly powerful...”

She can’t outrun us unless she has some other dragon friend to fly her somewhere. We’re definitely catching up.

 

"Wouldn't it be better to try and remove him as a threat though? We can't completely rely on the mortals to save us." Praecantatia says.

 

"It's not about being able to walk. Are you going to stand still or am I going to have to chase you?"

 

"Doubt she has a dragon friend. Not to hate, but I doubt it."

 

“It’s too big of a gamble until I have a sure shot. He learns just by being near something, anything new you bring against him works exactly once.”

“Why exactly this all of a sudden?” He asks, currently standing still.

The Leviathan said that we’re unique in that regard, so you’re probably right. Speaking of dragons, though, I smell one not too far away. Should we stay on the path, or give them a bit more space?

 

“Stella said so, and I think it’s a good idea.”
I walk over to him and try to hoist him up to carry him over my shoulder.

 

"A familair smell?"

 

"What if you were to use the aspect of random to alter an attack and make it unique each time?" Praecantatia asks.

 

“Slight changes are not enough at this point. He can account for deviances thanks to how many he has under his control.”

He steps away from you.
“Come on, I promised I wouldn’t take anything!”

No, something new. It doesn’t smell like they’ve moved in a while.

 

"What about a system with many permutations that are each assigned to a unique, randomly created attack each time?" Praecantatia asks, thinking.
