Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

I don't seem to be able to hear, getting blown up by a heat seeking missile while attempting to grab a cluster of gold coins and cursing again, before the gray box disappears entirely and I stand in the center of where it was, looking annoyed.

"Oh, I didn't realise you were here already." I say, trying to calm down.

 

"Based off recent trends, I assume you were hoping I just wouldn't be." Idhaenna shrugs. "You've got room in your palace for one of those things, though."

 

"I guess, though I doubt Praecantatia would be willing to lend me such expensive tech," I say, "Honestly, I have no idea how she does it. It's a nice break from training though, even if it does feel like training in itself."

 

"I certainly can."
I'll wave him goodbye as he leaves.

 

"Ah yes, your queen was the one who rejected my reward offer, not you." Idhaenna mumbles. "Why didn't I note that...? I offered her a handful of cores, some containing mechs and others containing blueprints. She thought I was insane and said they'd be seen as blasphemy in your home realm, so now I'm stuck with outdated crap not even my retired followers want. I removed all tracking implements usually in my tech, too, so they're of literally no use to me. Maybe I could pass them off to Praecantatia to make amends for apparently shit relations?"

Okay get moving, I don't want to get caught in the storm again.

 

I start running towards the forest.

 

"Maybe, but she doesn't seem like the type to ride around in a mech. She usually has her golems doing stuff for her anyway while she performs research." I say, glancing off toward the island with the large tower.

"I wonder how far she is..." I mumble.

 

I follow.

 

“I don’t expect her to use a mech, she sounds like the kind of person who’d take it apart and try to put it back together.” Idhaenna says. “She’s a magic user, you lot can teleport and stuff. Don’t really need a mech.”

You’re met with a surge of water as you see Scurn swim out of Levi’s mouth.

If you get tired, let me out. I just had a nap, so I should be good to go.

The sand turns to dirt and ash as you see a huge swath of fireweed growing where the burnt parts of the forest were.

 

"Yeah, we can swap. We're a lot faster in wolf form."

 

I meant if you got tired... ah, whatever. You are kinda slow... but where exactly are we heading? After Anne, or should we keep trying to find the pack?

 

"We don't really have a trail on Anne, do we? She left to the mainland is all that I know."

 

"She's also pretty much the size of a mech, so she'd only need one if someone her size was using a mech to somehow get even bigger," I say, "Else she could probably just stamp on people."

 

“I think you have a skewed perception of a mech. They really don’t have a specified size, example one.” Idhaenna says, dropping a core to the ground that turns into a mech about your size.
“Unless you only have huge mechs, in which case I’m sorry you need that many resources to make even one.”

The Leviathan said she went up towards the river around the mountain. I’m faster than her, I could probably catch up. Plus I could track her scent.

 

"Oh yeah, do that. Track her scent."

 

I swim after him.

 

"Why would you want a mech suit if it isn't huge and able to destroy stuff?" I ask.

 

"One, it can destroy stuff, that one's just a mining rig. Two, why would you want a huge mech suit that can't not get hit by a drunkard?" Idhaenna counters. "Though if you care for a bit of a sparring match, you're welcome to try and zero the shields on my medic suit."

You wind up catching up fairly fast, Scurn heading towards a small portal.

Do you mind getting away from the forest and closer to the mountain first? I can't smell much other than burnt stuff here.

 

"I've had enough training both back in my home and with Praecantatia's new stuff, I'd rather not spar right now." I say, sounding exhausted.

I slip a crystal out from under my sleeve and activate it. A powerful shield surrounds me in a bubble, and I roll around the island a bit inside of it as an example.

 

"Hope you're not tired enough for Iris to go after you once you get back. She's really bent on dueling you... like, that's all Xlentia talks about right now. Well, that and wanting to ravage something on Earth." Idhaenna shrugs, the mechsuit digitizing back into the core.

"Anyhow, I was wondering if you'd help me get to Lady Praecantatia. Our relations are apparently strained, so I don't want to just go inside."
