Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“I’m not a fan of how Idhaenna treats her servants.” Gaia says bluntly.
“They voluntarily work full-week shifts. I force them to do nothing.” Idhaenna retorts.
“I’ll try to put this aside for now if you do as well.” Gaia says.
“I won’t dodge questions, but I could go for a break.” Idhaenna shrugs.


Amethyst merges with another guard’s uniform, in part getting trampled.

 

"A fair point."

"Yeah.. that makes it sound really bad."

 

"Didn't mean to be critical, just don't want you to accidentally make yourself sound like a bad person."

 

"This is a short-notice feast being thrown by the King and Queen of my realm. If you two could, please try to show a little more respect and leave the quarrels at home." Lux says a little more sternly than usual, seeming slightly annoyed.

"Oh, it's no trouble. They're probably just hungry and will cheer up after some nice food." Solus says positively.

As if on cue, several waiters come out of a door near to the gods' table, notepads in hand as they see to each god.

"Is there anything specific I can get you?" Two waiters say to Gaia's counterpart and Idhaenna each, and seemingly to everyone else at the table simultaneously.


Amethyst ends up on a guard that gets a seat only a couple of tables back from the gods, though it's still quite a distance with the almost extreme length of each table. Unfortunately, this leaves Amethyst with nowhere to sit herself; all the chairs around the guard being taken up by more guards.

 

“Want to meet his parents to ask?”

 

Gaia glares at Idhaenna, who rolls her eyes.
"My apologies." They say simultaneously.

"No thanks. I prefer to be surprised." Idhaenna says.
"Do you by chance have any berries glazed with spice and herbal extract?" Gaia asks.


She opts to use the distraction of food to slip from guard to guard, inching closer to the gods.

"Are his parents any less demonic than he is?"

 

"Thanks for looking out for me." I smile.

 

The waiter nods to Idhaenna, heading back the way he came.

"Certainly, do you have any preferences for what sort of berries?" The waiter asks Gaia's counterpart, smiling.


Amethyst is able to slip all the way to the end of the table closest to the gods, though there's a short gap between the closest table and the table the gods are sitting at.

 

"Absolutely no clue. Pretty sure he doesn't have any, in fact."

 

"I'll leave that up to you." Gaia says, smiling back.


Amethyst continues waiting, biding her time.

"I am meant to be a guardian, after all."

"The more I ask you, the more I regret. Maybe last one - is that trend going to continue or is there some ounce of reason somewhere in that other reality?"

 

The waiter nods, scribbling something down on his notepad before leaving.

Only a couple of minutes pass before the waiters return, first carrying platters of specific food before more varied food begins to follow. Gaia's counterpart is presented with a gigantic plateful of nearly every berry imaginable, all seasoned with spices and herbal extracts. Idhaenna is presented with multiple smaller plates that each contain different, slightly smaller foods from varying cultures; meats, vegetables, fruits and even a few sandwiches and pasta dishes making up the contents of the plates.

The table is soon full of various food items in addition to the gods specific requests, barely any room for movement of items on the table. Large roasted birds, thick chunks of meat and salad that seems to actively regrow making up just a few parts of the feast.


There's not too much of a wait, though many of the guards seem to have their eyes fixed on the food being brought to the gods and royalty after a couple of minutes. Once they receive their food, soon hundreds of waiters begin to arrive from the far end of the dining hall carrying a multitude of platters holding food or plates and silverware. Everyone sitting down has a plate, knife and fork put in front of them as a gigantic feast of delicious looking food is laid out in front of them. People waste no time waiting for the tables to be completely filled, starting to take food as soon as it arrives.

 

Idhaenna starts sampling every dish, seeming more curious than hungry before her hololens shows up again.
“H-hey, stop reverse engineering the recipes. Let me enjoy my day off, Stella.” Idhaenna says, seeming a bit sheepish.
Gaia chuckles, starting on the berries she doesn’t recognize before glancing over at the guard hosting Amethyst and smirking.

 

Some of the dishes seem to be variations on recipes of more commonly known dishes. Spicy spaghetti and meatballs with small pockets of sauce inside the meatball, toasted sandwiches with the contents of a pizza inside, and steaks that just seem to be perfectly cooked making up a few of the many dishes Idhaenna has to sample. Gaia's counterpart finds some of the berries quite sour, though they seem to be quite ripe. Other berries seem to share their vibrant colours when Gaia's counterpart eats them, dyeing her tongue a rainbow. A larger berry seem to be bursting with juice, a large stem holding small pods of juice that ranges from a tangy sourness to a comforting sweetness.


The guard Amethyst is hiding in seems to notice Gaia's counterpart looking at him, before looking away, embarrassed.

 

"Speaking of, how is that going? Guarding everything well?"

 

"There's... vague reasoning."

 

"The best I can, as usual. Not that three guardians is enough for an entire planet, though... things are a bit rough up north, but it's nothing that concerns you or the island as far as I can tell."

"Sounds better than what I'm hearing. Do you have someone to open a portal to get you out of here, or are we getting out the fun way?"

Idhaenna seems largely unfamiliar with everything, though she gravitates towards taking more than a sample of anything sweet.
Gaia glances around the table, eating somewhat slowly in an attempt to hide her low appetite.

 

Gaia seems to be enjoying a salad that looks like a miniaturized jungle with amount and variation of food, while Lux seems to have gone with a large piece of fish with prawns on the side. Everyone seems too engaged in eating to talk, though also too engaged to notice Gaia's counterpart not eating much. The dining hall still roars with the sounds of people and food, waiters dashing around and restocking the tables now emptied of food.

 

"Right, none of my business."

"Oh, another thing. There are 3 of you, correct? Is there no Guardian for 'earth'?"

 

"Fun way."

 

"Well... we don't actually know where Behemoth went. There was a fourth for 'earth,' but he sort of just... left. And hasn't come back."

Gaia's slow eating keeps steady, eventually cleaning her plate as Idhaenna never winds up finishing a single dish.

"In that case, I'm not giving up the extras before we get through." Scurn says, recalling a few dozen daggers back to his cloak before tossing you your sword.
"I suspect Idhaenna would have the place on lock, but I'm not exactly innocent in her eyes. You'll probably be fine."
