"Remember when I said that he has resources and gods on the dial-up?"

 

“No, she went around them.”

“Most of you. Temporus’ counterpart is dead, but the rest of you high gods do have counterparts. Virei’tus and Xlentia are the easy ones, O’rogal is Praecantatia’s, Idhaenna is Mortius’, and you are spread out amongst Idhaenna, O’rogal, Atavul, and I.” Gaia tells her counterpart.

“What, does he just up and stalk you if you leave?”

 

"Okay. Good. That's good."

 

"Wow, that's so cool!" Gaia says excitedly.

"Small world, as they say." Lux shrugs.

 

“I feel like this roughly covers most fundamentals, so I suppose it makes sense.”

“Did your last trip to the mountains not go well?”

 

"So how does your reality function without a god of time?" Lux asks.

 

“We regulate our respective elements and aspects, but they are not bound to us as you are here. If none of us were alive, nothing would change. There’s a council of chronomancers that helps regulate things in Chronos’ stead, but most of them are or were Virei’tus’ monks. They don’t shift timelines to change fate, they only act enough to keep things from falling apart.”

 

"There are dragons there, most of which are NOT friendly."

 

“I assume that means no, it did not go well.”

 

"I did fine, but just to specify why anyone should go there. I just got lucky thanks to having connections to other dragons."

 

"I've never understood Temporus' work. He says that there's a ton of...doomed timelines? And that we're on some special strict timeline where all time travel was meant to happen, yet he can also spend all of his time being a dj at some rave he owns, while also not?" Gaia explains, confused.

"Temporus...likes to spend his time enjoying himself, since he has access to all of time." Lux explains in a simpler manner.

 

“There are countless ways for a reality to crumble, and just as many for things to go well. If you can control time, no reason to spend all of it working to keep fools from breaking it.” Gaia shrugs.

“Are there only dragons up there, and how did you know anyone there if you’d never been before?”

 

"Time magic is a rarity here. People that do use it usually end up causing themselves to cease to exist, or getting a personal visit from Temporus if they manage survive that." Lux says, glancing up at the palace. The trio approaches the road leading up to the palace. While there are far fewer houses, it only serves to make it look longer than it actually is.

 

“I don’t recall Temporus having a word with Vei, though I suppose she never made it this far in her accursed life.” Gaia thinks out loud. “Still, if he could I would suggest he visit the Void Chronoseum. Many ameteur chronomancers learn to stabilize their art there.”

 

"I don't believe he can leave himself. Not without messing a lot of things up. He can allow us to borrow time in this reality to visit yours, though it's through use of his powers. I think if he were to actually exit this reality, his powers wouldn't be able to sustain a version of himself to make up for the time he isn't here for - since, well, he isn't here." Lux explains.

 

"A dragon friend of mine introduced me to one of his friends who life there. Back when the storm happened and we had to leave the island."

 

“Perhaps Xlentia could send a few students his way, which would still let him get a look at their progress. I doubt he’d be impressed by them, but if he can’t come to my reality then perhaps we can send parts of our norms to him for study.”

“How many dragon friends do you have, exactly? That’s not something I hear every day.”

 

"That does seem like a better solution." Lux says, glancing up at the crowds of people beginning to leave the palace and head toward the gods. Two large royal figures seem to be at the back of the lines, looking toward the gods with smiles.

"The students could hang out in Temporus' rave afterward, too." Gaia says happily.

 

"Sgavrinn, some others I met with higher rankings, some on the main land in the mountains."

"Well, they are friendly towards me, doesn't make us friends immediatly. But yeah, maybe 5 or 6?"

 

“Virei’tus wouldn’t allow that, nor would most of them want to. His monks work to uphold balance and punish blatant crimes. Why he hasn’t sent them against the Hive Master is beyond me, but I trust his judgement. He is the one all go to ask for an unbiased decision, after all.” Gaia says, looking towards the light royalty.

“You do realize most people never want to see a dragon in their lifetime, right? You’re kind of a blatant abnormality. Still, you talk a lot about this Sgavrinn. Why remember him in particular if you’ve only seen him once? Why dream about him if you’ve only seen him once?”
