Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"There are guardians everywhere." Gaia says, amused a little.


"What are you doing?" Mortius asks, voice seeming to creep into the back of Apocalypse's mind rather than being sent through a telepathic connection.

 

“I mean, wouldn’t there be more water guardians underwater?”


“Punishing those who seek the hides of my people. Am I being commanded to release them?”

 

"Well, yes, but they're not restricted to it." Gaia explains.


Mortius waves his hand, and the humans seem to stiffen up before withering away; a cool breeze blowing past Apocalypse.

 

“I know, it wouldn’t make much sense for Katie to trudge through a desert if she couldn’t... even though it didn’t make much sense anyways.”


She smiles.
“Let me know should you wish I make up for the time you spent coming here. I may be far from you, but you may find me useful.”

 

Gaia gives her counterpart a confused look.


"Leave the claiming of corrupt souls to me." Mortius says, before fading away.

 

“Just reminiscing on watching over Aj and his friends in the past.”


“I only release, but if you wish I will leave the imprisoned to you.” Apocalypse says, the molten bindings turning to sand.

 

Gaia smiles, swimming back up to the surface. Currents drag her counterpart along behind her.

Eventually, Gaia and her counterpart arrive on a large sandy island. Palm trees populate the edges, with a mossy tropical forest taking up the centre. In the distance, Gaia's counterpart can see what looks like a partially submerged city, bright colours seemingly being painted onto some of the buildings with some odd looking water guardians running about.


The uneasiness fades, though Apocalypse is left with a feeling that she shouldn't try to kill anyone anytime soon.

 

“This feels oddly familiar, almost like one of the gemstones lived in a place like this...” Gaia comments, seeming worried.


She goes back to sitting on the dock, seeming to meditate until sunset.

 

"Gemstones?" Gaia asks, confused.

 

"What? No, that would be silly. The bed is still on the same place."

 

“There are twelve draconian preservers, each of which are as old as their homeworld and all named after gemstones. Ruby was one, though she’s passed... same with Sapphire. I sense Amethyst in the realm of light, Amber on Earth, and Tourmaline I believe was assimilated by Lady Tenebrae.”

“Okay, that’s fair. That would be ridiculous. I... I’m sorry about scaring you with my pets earlier. I didn’t know those kinds of animals scared you.”

 

Gaia seems to pause for a long moment, looking as if she's zoned out.

"Oh, interesting!" Gaia says suddenly, zoning back in.

 

“Is... something wrong?” Gaia asks, a bit confused.

 

"No, nothing. I was just trying to remember if any of your gems had come here." Gaia says, smiling innocently; as if covering up a crime.

 

"It's fine. Getting out of this room is my first priority at the moment."

"It's just... difficult."

 

“No, though I do wish Sapphire had. Besides, I know most of them aren’t... terribly well-liked here, so to speak... though Amber did mention that things went well with her encounter with Mortius.” Gaia says, her tone a touch distrusting.

“Here, I’ll try to push the door open. That should help move the dresser, just don’t let it fall over.” She says, the door bumping into the dresser.

 

"Oh, Mortius met one of them? He never told me." Gaia says, sounding a little disappointed.

 

“I don’t know if you’d like Amber. She’s been cursed to be undead for... quite a while, now. She seemed happy that Mortius gave her a charm that would let her not burn up in the sun, though she still isn’t fond of being above ground for more than a few minutes at a time.”

 

"That's...rather odd of him. I suppose she isn't from here, though." Gaia comments, thinking.

 

I'll try and grab the dresser. Or catch it if it falls.
