"Please, like I'd kick you while you're down with some realisation that we have nobody left to turn to. Of course it's Tenebrae. If she hated you, you wouldn't be here right now." Shadow Stephanie says, smiling.

 

"Good. Good. Let's go have a rest now."

 

Ihra looks flustered by Shadow Stephanie’s statement.
“Can I, uh... can you keep a secret for me? But yes, I suppose I could ask why Tenebrae dislikes me. I just... there’s something I haven’t told you or the others because I didn’t want you treating me funny.”

I want out. Getting knocked out isn’t very restful.

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking?” Levi asks.
“The giant snake from that one shitty movie?”
“Yeah, that. It’ll at least narrow down their numbers.”

 

"Wanna swap or want to get out of the room?"

 

"Why would we treat you funny?" Shadow Stephanie asks, suspicious.

 

“This isn’t akin to colonies of people, guys. You can’t stride up to somewhere and go ‘alright, get in’ and they’ll go ‘yeah, okay’. That’s not how that works.”

 

“That’s still really dumb.” The duo say in unison.

Ihra hesitates.
“I guess you’re right... so... you know how there are lesser gods, usually a few on a planet, and then there are high gods that govern a reality?”

I’d rather swap. I dunno how you feel trapped inside, but I need a nap and if we need to kill time in a snake-free manner, I want a nap.

 

"Your weird deity system, yes." Shadow Stephanie nods.

 

“There’s another step above. Gods who make realities, who make the high gods. Someone called ‘The Allmother,’ specifically; a goddess who makes realities and the high gods in them. Iris tried to speak up for me, trying to get your gods to stop treating me like a child or pawn. She’s still insane, even though she’s right. I... well, I’m somewhere between The Allmother and the rest of the gods.” Ihra says telepathically, seeming to do her best to not stumble over nervous words.

 

Shadow Stephanie thinks for a while, before shaking her head.

"No, I don't believe that." Shadow Stephanie says.

 

"Let's swap then."

I'll allow my other self to take control.
"I never asked, but can you 'keep watch' while I'm unconcious?"

 

“I fabricated a full-strength copy of Tenebrae and absorbed her power when we were supposedly tested against Lux.” Ihra says bluntly. “What mortal does that and doesn’t feel a thing afterwards? I know it all sounds crazy, but Iris’ explanation makes the most sense to me. I’m not just some random-ass chosen one, I’m clearly not a mortal and I don’t know any high gods that can make full-strength copies of other high gods.”

Yes, kinda. It’s sort of like I can wake you if something seems amiss. I can’t actually watch, but I can listen. You can probably do the same.

 

“What, and you two don’t have any fetishes?”

 

“Neither of us know what that me-“
“Why the hell is its definition in a military database, that’s disgusting!” Levi complains, clearly offput.

 

"No, not that you're not a god. That's pretty obvious at this point, " Shadow Stephanie says, leaning back, "It's the idea of this allmother. There's no god of reality. Just as dark opposes light and good opposes evil, the opposing force of nonexistence, null, is existence. You can't have a god to create it, it just is. It is what gives null purpose and place, and null gives existence purpose and place. Realities are born from the opposing force of null. Gods like Temporus and Caelia provide dimensions and tangibility to that existence, the fabric of the reality."

"Maybe this allmother is a some enigmatic being that managed to channel the force of existence and tangibility, but she isn't some extreme god." Shadow Stephanie adds, shrugging. She summons her dagger and throws it into the air, spinning, before catching it by it's hilt; repeating this idly.

 

“Maybe, but then what does my staff make things out of, and where does the stuff Iris annihilates go? And why do we have complete control of it?”
Pause.
“Also Kiin’s whole armada group keep calling me the Allmother and it’s creepy as hell.”

 

"Good to know."

"Well. Have a good rest then."

 

"I'm pretty sure Artemis could lecture you about how there's a delicate balance of life and death, but you're essentially an aspect of existence and Iris is an aspect of null," Shadow Stephanie explains, "Not even the gods know what happens to things in null, it's nonexistence entirely. We don't know what created our reality, it's just existence to contrast nonexistence."

Shadow Stephanie continues idly throwing and spinning her blade, not missing a catch.

 

"Never mind. Forget I said anything."

 

"That makes sense for here, but... my reality has several records reporting an Allmother that created the gods. My powers work here pretty much identically to home, which leads me to believe something similar happened here. Still, I don't know much of anything about here, so you're probably right..."
Ihra sighs.
"I feel like being just a mortal would've made things a lot less confusing as hell."

Being conscious while your beast form is asleep is... strange, to say the least.
Most of your sensory is hearing yourself snore very loudly, though you also notice a slight breeze coming in through what you assume is the window.

"Too late for that!" Levi complains.
"I don't mind being spared..." Scurn mumbles.
