Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Alright. You look good to me."

 

"Yeah. But our room was quite safe, wasn't it?"

 

"Katie accidentally killed her sister so Xlentia's out for blood, Abigail's mortally wounded, Chroma's losing it, Emerald's still gone, Idhaenna's getting greedy, the Hive Master has started using Atavul's works to make each individual even more threatening, and Iris apparently made all of your gods hate me so I can't do shit about any of this." She says, flustered, looking at her with a wild eye. "Also, Abigail literally ranting about how useless I am in front of me really was the icing of the cake for today."
Ihra takes a breath, though it doesn't seem to help.
"And you?"

He grabs his chakram, which nestle in his cloak less-than-subtly.
"When exactly did you plan to escort me there?"

No snakes, enough furniture to barricade the door, and the window's shut. We should be okay in there, I guess...

 

Shadow Stephanie shrugs.

"Pretty much the same from a ruler's standpoint," Shadow Stephanie says, "Tenebrae's still here if you want to talk to her. I think she can weather another guest."

 

"Let's get started on barricading then."

 

"...I would need to contact some people. Is this a comfortable place to wait?"

 

“As much as I’m tempted to say yes, I can’t keep myself together and I don’t want to burn any apparently crumbling bridges further.”

“Yeah, sure. Nobody really comes or goes often around here.”

There’s a bedside table, a small dresser, and a chair.
And, thankfully, no snakes in sight wherever in the room you look.

 

"Dresser first."
I say as I move over the drasser.

 

"Suit yourself." Shadow Stephanie says, shrugging.

 

“I would imagine not...”
I say, then stop to think.

 

"I've been trying to manage too many things at once. I'm burnt out. I get you've been trying to manage an entire kingdom on your own, but I'm left with more problems than just my own. Everyone goes to me for their trouble, but I can't go to me for my trouble. I don't know what the hell to do." She says, frustrated.

"Getting eaten isn't high on many people's priority lists." Levi chuckles.
"Or on them at all, for that matter."

The dresser kicks up a bit of dust as you move it over, but it's so heavy that the door won't be opening easily for anyone or anything.

Bedside table next, or do you think the dresser's enough?

 

"Who do you think I and everyone else goes to for their trouble?" Shadow Stephanie asks.

 

"Yeah.. just to be sure."
I'll start pushing the bedside table.

 

I chuckle at their comment.

 

"In your case, I'd hope Lady Tenebrae or maybe Lady Gaia. I didn't mean from this reality, I meant from back home..." She sighs, seeming to at least have something starting to resemble sanity again.

"Oh, so he's better at comedy than I am?" Scurn protests.
"I'm better than you at a lot of things. Definitely not walking, though." Levi teases.

You're not sure how much help the table will be, but the bigger barrier does make you feel a bit safer.

There's a chair too... should we just put everything in front of the door?

 

"I mean.. while we're at it."
I place the chair on top, not blocking the door per se.

 

Shadow Stephanie lets out an exhausted sigh.

"Alright, let me phrase it differently. You can't go to yourself for help. I'm the queen of pretty much most of this realm and I need to go to people when I need help. Who am I supposed to go to, and who has everyone else been going to recently?" Shadow Stephanie says.

 

“‘Getting eaten’ is a popular fetish in some places. It’s higher on more people’s list than you’d think.”
I explain dryly.

 

“Sounds like natural selection needs to do a better job...” Scurn complains, a bit disgusted.

Ihra pauses, thinking a bit.
“...Based off the crowd, Tenebrae? Or are you saying we’re both stuck in the same thing?”

It doesn’t balance well on the table, but it looks... stable enough.

That’ll keep everything out. And us in, I suppose.
