Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

“H-huh? I’m really easy to see, though...” Shatter quietly protests.

Kiin snickers, looking at the cracks in the ground form and mend behind the group.

“Okay, I’ll do that once the sun sets... unless you plan to take a nap.”

“Pick three, I don’t care which three. God or mortal, just describe a few of them.”

 

"Let's go." Cel prompts, leading the group forward again.

Katie and Abigail follow, heading back the way Katie came.

 

"No, I'll wait. I'll stay awake."

 

"There's humans, just flesh-and-blood humans, they come in all different kinds.
Draconians are like dragon-human hybrids, with the stance and size of a human but otherwise the appearance of a dragon.
Then there's one that's just a rock shaped to look like a human, but he moves and has a mind and therefore probably a soul, so he counts."

 

“It sounds like you’re describing Xlentia’s domain, not so much the other side of a rift.”

“Anyhow, your room is here. I cleaned up a bit, but not much.”
She opens a door to a small bedroom that’s big enough to have a bed, a bedside table, and some floorspace to a small closet. The bedding looks like it has barely been used, though the top of the quilt is a bit dusty.

Kiin continues on, counting the coins again as the group heads through the cave.

 

Cel takes a diversion instead of heading towards Katie's home, eventually leading the group up to a large house nearby cliffs overlooking the ocean. Katie's beach doesn't seem to be visible from these cliffs, however.

Cel takes out a key and unlocks his front door, walking inside and holding it open for the group.

 

"I'll clean it up a bit. Call me when you put your snake in a box."

 

"I'll be honest, with the intense multitude of portals, it's hard to tell the difference."

 

“If there are two Gaia, then I’m curious about the one that isn’t necessarily a golem.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’ll be a minute.” She sighs, heading down the hall.

Good to know you hate snakes as much as I do.

Shatter holds a piece of rock between Cel and the door.
“Hold on. Let me handle this.” He says, rising from the ground.
“Chroma, you wait in the wrong place.”
“Do I? Perhaps my torture has reconditioned me. Perhaps I’ve been left as nothing more than those worms behind you call me. In your efforts to save as many as you can, you forsake those who come to you.”
“You tried to kill her.”
“I had no choice. I asked for sanctuary from the hell I live in, and was repelled by force after explaining myself. I may not be welcome, but I still don’t want to kill anyone else. If I stay here, I fight to survive. If I go back, I fight to kill.”
Shatter looks back at Cel.
“I’ll try to get him out of here. Just... don’t do anything stupid.” He sighs.

Kiin hides behind Katie again.

 

I'll clean up the room a bit.
Get the dust of the sheets.
You know, make it look more fresh.

 

After a few minutes, the gorgon returns after you’ve mostly finished dusting.
“The bane of your existence is now in a box.” She jokes.

 

"Hey, I said I wanted to see it be put in there."

 

"You again!?" Abigail screams, suddenly becoming enraged; hair flaring into flames.

"So you're Chroma." Cel says calmly, looking at Chroma curiously.

 

There doesn’t seem to be much air around Abigail’s head to burn, Scatter keeping a literal third eye on the back of his head trained on her.

Chroma stands with a giant gash across his face, seeming something between desperate and crazed. Broken crystals stick out between nearly all of his scales.
“I will not damage another house, not willingly. I’m sick of this war, but I won’t let you just end me. Please, give me a chance. He’ll subject everyone to this, I can’t stop that alone...” He begs, sounding exhausted.
“You’re not welcome here.” Shatter says flatly.
“I picked my poison and I chose this one!” Chroma retorts, frustrated.

“Do you also want to see me take it back out of the box?”

 

"No! No, no, no. I just want to confirm it is in there."

 

She laughs.
“Alright, come on.” She says, heading back down the hall.

 

"Please leave the premises, you're trespassing." Cel says calmly, but strictly.

 

"Right."
I'll follow her to the snake.

 

“Not even you are willing to hear me out, then...?” Chroma asks, frustrated.
“We will not work on your terms.”
“And you listen on none. Fine, I’ll leave. I apologize for what I will have to do, but know I tried to avoid it.” He grumbles. “Care to let me outside, then?”

She opens a locked door, and inside are dozens of boxes with huge spiders, snakes, and a very brightly colored frog.

She then walks up to and latches the lid to the box of the snake that was on the loose earlier.
“See? Box. Won’t get out. Feel any better?”

 

Cel, Abigail and Katie stand aside to let Chroma leave.
