Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

The ground around Katie's feet freezes a little as she seems rather intimidated.

"Coincidences across parallel realities are much less coincidences, moreso likelihoods." Cel shrugs.

"I wish humans would treat me like a god..." Abigail says offhandedly, seeming annoyed.

 

"Tell that to the people that got bitten."

 

"Parallel, I couldn't say for sure. The first rift had no dragons, and my people were kept as pets by their captors. I had been to their reality once, and their gods acted as if they were mind controlled. They held council, but said nothing. Their combat maneuvers were nearly flawless, never making the same mistake twice. We stood no chance; not even godslayer relics could save us." Mirror mumbles, ignoring Abigail.

"Two harpies, four birds. Countless non-shifters, too, but birds are the theme." She shrugs, heading upstairs.

 

Cel just shrugs indifferently, not seeming too invested.

Katie glances around, paranoid.

 

Mirror meets Katie's gaze quickly.
"This is not that world. You are not losing ground in a total war. I meant it as a compliment, not a warning. I wouldn't hope for a better sibling for our Admiral."

 

Katie's eyes seem to reflect a desperate prayer, head confused and adrenaline running.

"I...I..." Katie tries to say, scared.

Abigail glances between Mirror and Katie, thinking for a moment before seeming to realise something. She slinks behind Katie before grabbing her from behind, holding on tight.

Katie clutches Abigail's arms around her front, closing her eyes tight.

"Nightmares, I'd guess." Cel mentions.

 

Mirror's eyes narrow.
"I suspect your prior guess was random, but you may be right about things being more than just a coincidence. I'm not the council member that can help with the stress, though."

 

"Things aren't always as random as they seem. There's usually a pattern." Cel says, adjusting his glasses so the sunlight shines across them.

Katie takes a sharp breath in, before opening her eyes, seeming a little less spooked.

"Are you ok now?" Abigail asks, concerned as she lets go of Katie.

Katie nods, hugging Abigail.

 

"I believe what you're saying, but I am still keeping my distance from anything that could kill me, if I can."

 

“Too late. The damage is done.”

 

“If you can find patterns in the Allmother’s craft, I’d be surprised if she doesn’t recruit you.” Mirror mutters.

Kiin hugs Katie's leg, also seeming worried.

Scurn rolls his eyes.
“On the bright side, you’re not very high on my list of concerns.”

“You realize that just about anyone technically could kill you, right? And I’m sure you don’t avoid trees just because one might fall on you.”

 

Cel shrugs.

"It's possible." Cel says.

Katie holds on to Abigail a bit longer, before letting go; seeming ready to continue onward.

 

The only thing stopping Katie from moving forward is Kiin wrapped around her leg, looking up towards Katie’s face albeit unable to see that she’s more composed.

 

Katie glances down at Kiin, smiling.

"I'm fine, don't worry." Katie says reassuringly.

 

"I just don't trust the snake."

 

"And you're not high on mine."

 

Kiin lets go, still seeming a bit uneasy.
"Promise?"

Mirror vanishes again.
"I am needed elsewhere. Shatter will stay here as escort."
"I cannot see the creatures of light. Are you sure leaving such a vulnerability is a good idea?" A deep, quiet voice echoes from the ground.
"They are the least likely to be hostile. Stall me no longer." Mirror says, her leave marked with a sharp and sudden gust of wind.
"But the shadows..." Shatter protests, before sighing.
"I suppose it's just me, then. Just continue pretending I'm not here."

"Seriously though, if there's another reality, then we really need to get this Hive Master thing straightened fast. Rifts usually mean wars, and it doesn't take a genius to know that getting caught on the battlefield divided is certain death." Levi adds.
"That's... fair. Considering you're the only one here who has seen any of the othersouls, what're they like?" Scurn asks.

The gorgon chuckles.
"If you insist, you can watch me put it in the box."

 

“Again, I need you to be more specific. There’s a lot of them.”

 

Katie nods.

"Great...invisible pervs..." Abigail mutters.

 

"Yeah.. that might help a bit."
