Void Rift (rp) - Intermission

"Well, what are you planning to do about it?"
I ask Scurn, more curious than challenging.

 

The closest chair nearby seems to be by the tables where Abigail, Katie and Cel ate their food, though it's fairly easy to drag one over.

A couple of fire guardians pick the unconscious fire guardian up, while Katie seems to be explaining the situation among a crowd of doubtful faces.

 

"Hold on. Let me check."

I walk over to the door to see if it's locked.

 

“Visit. Scout. Steal, if necessary. The usual.” Scurn says.
“Bring me back something this time if you do head out.” Levi says, sounding a touch entitled.
“Yeah, yeah, I will...”

It isn’t, but it is closed.

Kiin heads back over towards Katie, still confused.
“Will they be okay?”

 

"I think so, they just lost their power." Katie explains.

 

Kiin tilts her head.
“Will that come back too?” She asks, more confused.

 

Katie nods, the crowd beginning to disperse as the fire guardian is taken away.

 

"Want me to lock it for you?"

 

“No, I’ll handle that later.”

“Why’d they fall over, though?”

 

"Fire guardians can't stand cold just like I can't stand heat. If they get too cold or splashed with water, they 'go out'. We're incredibly sensitive to our opposing elements." Katie explains.

 

"Alright, it's closed. No snake should be able to get out."

 

“Oh, so when they bumped into me they passed out?”

“Thank you, I’ve gotten in a bit of trouble over that in the past.”

 

"Why, does it go outside a lot?"

 

Katie nods.

"You're incredibly cold. If you touched someone directly, you might kill them." Katie says.

 

Kiin seems shocked, looking down at her feet.
“T-they’ll be okay, right?”

“No, it’s venom tends to be fatal.”

 

"What happened then? People coming inside and getting bitten?"

 

“No, snake getting out and killing someone.”

 

Katie nods optimistically.

 

Kiin hugs Katie, before handing her the coin.
“This was in the little tray thing.”

 

"Oh, why didn't you put it into the machine?" Katie asks, confused and smiling.
